Yet they are still winning big! Not like the Yankees.

I agree. Seattle, Tampa, Toronto, and Cleveland are all more than capable of knocking them off. All four of those teams have an ace better than Cole, too.

Knowing Boone he would elect to start German over Cortes because Cortes has experience pitching from the bullpen....

Yankees starting pitching has been fantastic over the last 6 starts but they've won 2 game

Cardinals GM thanked the Yankees for trading the reliable lefty to his team. :)

Saw today the Mets have a 194m payroll for next year
Carrasco has a 14m team options
DeGrom and Walker have player options
Bassitt and Givens have mutual options
Nimmo, Diaz, T. Williams, Naquin, May, Ottavino, Lugo are all free agents

If they sign Diaz, Nimmo, DeGrom, and another pitcher they will have over a 300m payroll easily

Tuesday will be only the 16th time since the start of interleague play in 1997 that the Sox will play the Pirates. The teams last met in 2017.

The Sox are 8-7 in the series and 3-6 at PNC Park. Their last series in Pittsburgh was in 2014. The Sox haven’t won a game at PNC Park since 2011.

Some fun Yankees stats

Brett Phillips in 2022:

225 PA, .144/.217/.249 (38 wRC+)

Yankees since August 9th:

220 PA, .157/.242/.234 (39 wRC+)

Yankees starters have a 2.66 ERA in the last 7 games. That is tied with the White Sox for the 4th lowest in MLB in that span. The bullpen has a 2.61 ERA, which is the 5th lowest.

The offense has 17 runs scored (4th lowest) and a .186 AVG (tied for the 2nd lowest with MIL).

Is Aaron Judge gonna homer? Will the lineup stop playing like Gallo?

its a long season. the yankees were never going to maintain their 116 win pace. they were going to eventually hit a cold stretch. it happens

They've lost it and the issue is there's not much real motivation to get "it" back.

We've seen major blown division leads, so maybe that could happen. The lineup is what was overachieving early in the season. They have good pitching.. that's not the problem.

They have too many swing and miss guys who just go up there and take huge hacks resulting in non-competitive at-bats. Guys like Gleyber Torres, Josh Donaldson, Aaron Hicks, Joey Gallo, etc. are not winning players strictly from a hitting perspective yet the Yankees have been rolling them out there all season. (Obviously Gleyber is much better than the other three I named, but he still has a crap ton of awful, awful at bats.) Then even a good contact guy like Kiner-Falefa is still a far below average hitter. The bottom of their lineup is very bad.

Losing Rizzo and Stanton at the same time was a death punch to a lineup that didn't have much depth anyways. Judge has truly had a ridiculous season to prop the team up and he really should be the runaway MVP (if the season ended today).

Judge has probably already begun a major cold streak. The team is struggling and he probably is pressing to do something every time he comes up to bat. Add in the pressure of chasing Maris' record and I think it could be a below average rest of the month for him.

I think he gets one tonight. He deserves UNANIMOUS MVP if he keeps this up.

Yankees on their way to a third straight game without any runs.

Starts at the top. They've tried to win the same way for 5-6 years now and it has been proven that it won't work. Cashman needs to be fired.
