About $20 million in the first round from the feds, with more to come later.

Louisiana is set to receive its first round of federal infrastructure dollars for five transportation projects across the state, including the proposed commuter rail service connecting Baton Rouge to New Orleans.
Gov. John Bel Edwards and state Department of Transportation and Development Secretary Shaun Wilson announced in a joint press release Thursday that the federal government approved five Louisiana applicants for funding out of the federal Rebuilding American Infrastructure with Sustainability and Equity (RAISE) grant program.

Public transportation works in places with enough of a population for it. Where’s the demand. No one is lining up for a BR/Nola train connection

People haven’t quit bitching since the last time that happened because the bridge doesn’t have huge traffic flow.

It'll be slower than driving and you'll still need an Uber or a car on the other side.

It will work if they execute service properly and keep it consistent. But they won't. So this will be a boondoggle.

Is the train going to have a stop at the airport in N.O.?

New terminal is on the opposite side of the airport from where the railroad tracks are.

It wouldn't work if everything was perfect. BR and NOLA are too sprawled out for just about anyone commuting to have up having their vehicle.
Even at current gas prices, the 200 mile round trip will be cheaper than parking your vehicle in the morning, then ubering back and forth from wherever your works. Throw in the extra time relative to just commuting yourself, and it's a guaranteed loser.
