The unspoken part about hiring 87,000 new IRS agents

Not only will citizens be under more scrutiny for tax mistakes but organizations.
Who doubts that Joe will target people like Project Veritas, conservative news sites, pro life groups etc.?
He will have the manpower to literally bankrupt some of these groups with endless audits.

Here's the other unspoken part: when the Republicans sweep the Midterms, they won't do anything to roll it back. They'll complain about it, but will not get it done.

How will this change after Nov. 8th?
And this is weaponization of that agency, like Fat Bastard Inc. at MAL right?

If they can hire 87,000 IRS agents, couldn't they also hire a few more Border Patrol agents?

It’s near mathematically impossible that they can meet the funding shortfall by going after the 1%. I don’t agree with it in the slightest but mathematically the other 99% of people whose tax returns are historically not looked at as much will contain the most fodder for the IRS to leach onto. Ultra rich people know their shite gets looked at so they don’t often take unnecessary risk on complex tax matters. Sure, some do, but not to the extent the government needs it. That leaves only the middle class because poor people either don’t file or do a 1040EZ. Middle class is the honey pot because it contains the most self employed individuals and the most individuals altogether. It HAS to be to go after them.

Republicans don't have the political will to shrink the size and scope of gov't. In fact, Republicans LOVE big gov't, as long as it's THEIR big gov't. You love these little drive-by comments and never offer anything of substance to the conversation. It's kind of tiring, but here's your opportunity!
Why don't you list out the things that the Republicans have cut or repealed that ultimately made gov't smaller? I'd love to see that list. I'm always looking for an opportunity to learn something and review my positions on the issues.

I'm admittedly not a political or governmental affairs expert, but didn't Trump cut like 15K federal jobs and downsize nearly every government agency in his first year in office?

quote:"We're going after billionaires!" they say. There are less than 200 billionaires in the US. You don't need 87,000 agents for that.

Maybe, but that's Trump. Not exactly your run-of-the-mill elite establishment republican politician.

Just a few thoughts:
Good luck on hiring as they are having a problem now.
Weapon training?
To be hired over 10 years. Is it written in the law they cannot be used for taxpayers earning under $400,000? If not how will new director and Pres. know that is what Shumer and crew said?
The main source for tax dollars from audit today is independent contractors. The new target are large Corps. who have accountants and tax lawyers who are as smart or smarter than IRS people. If the Corps. do not win they will keep it tied in court forever. This whole concept is BS.

The other unspoken aspect of the hiring of 87,000 new IRS agents is that the IRS' employees union is one of the biggest in the country. This doubling of the number of employees will double the size of its union. Which will double the amount of already large union dues. 95% of its union dues went to Democrats as campaign contributions last election. Just another example of the DNC's far sighted planning.

And school resource officers. (Armed school resource officers).
