Denbrock would like LSU’s QB derby settled “today” adding LSU’s not anywhere close to that

In The Advocate, when asked Monday when he’d like the QB derby settled, he replied “today.” But Denbrock implied there’s plenty of time, noting “There comes a line of demarcation when we got to get ready to win game one. We’re not anywhere close to that.”

TTT - Translation - Deciding the winner of LSU’s quarterback derby is priority no.1, and LSU coaches will not rush the process of deciding who’s no1!

Reading between the lines, he wants either NUSS or Jayden to separate themselves from the other.

I don't think a QB will be named until right up to the FSU game.

He wants it settled between Nuss and Daniels. Moscona said on his show yesterday that it would be a miracle if Myles won the starting job, those were his exact words. He said MB doesn't have the skill set to run this offense

I think that something that is very important to the decision, but not be discussed much, is the coach's confidence in the OL.

Given that Brennan is probably the least mobile of the three QBs he's probably the most reliant on good OL play. If the staff has concerns about the OL, then it may be they go with a more mobile QB...not because he is the better passer, but because he might be the better "fit" behind that particular OL.

That's why I think, ultimately, Daniels will start in game 1. With new players, a new offensive system, literally zero returning o-linemen who are penciled in as definite starters, and, most importantly, no "warm up" game before FSU, there is no way the coaches can feel 100% confident in whatever OL combination the put on the field in the opener. With that being the case, I think they err on the side of "caution" and start the guy (Daniels) who has the most game experience (by a long shot) and is the most mobile, which would allow him the best opportunity to mitigate shaky OL play.

What may come out of that first game is the OL is better than even the coaches think it could be and they can protect a better passer (if Daniels struggles in that area), thus giving them the opportunity to try a different QB in game 2 vs. Southern. In an ideal world LSU would be playing Southern before playing FSU. That would allow the coaches to observe real game play in a low risk situation. But that is not the case. So if you aren't fully confident your OL will hold up vs FSU, then go with the guy that gives you more options in that scenario.

They already know who it’s going to be. They’ve had winter, spring, and summer to see a lot of things….they know

I do think the longer the OLine goes unsettled on starters that does not benefit Myles.
If they get the OLine issues figured out then it helps Myles.

Admittedly, even since we picked up Daniels, I’ve thought it was going to be Nuss’s job to lose and figured if anyone took it, MB would be the guy..

Now that it appears to be betweeen Nuss and Daniels, I still can’t help to think it’s still Nuss’s job to lose.. I loved some things I saw from him last year. Of course there was room to grow, and I have been thinking if he puts it all together, he could be a real problem for other teams.

With that being said, if DANIELS wins the job, that only makes me that much more confident in him, bc Nuss and Brennan are both very good

Little different than the Jefferson, Lee, Jennings, Harris days ha

Youtube LINK to Denbrock's presser from Monday that the article references. 17ish minutes, pretty good stuff. I hadn't really heard the guy speak before.

Sounds like one of them just needs to beat the crap out of the other two...

When asked about Jayden Daniels footwork project, Denbrock says it isn't finished yet. Meaning, of course, that in his mind Daniels still isn't accurate enough yet.

Hence, the writing is on the wall on who will be LSU's next starting QB. Anyone care to guess?

Terrible translation.

Clearly he wishes he had a clear cut #1 and at some point they gotta pick but they have time.

Not anywhere close to the line, or we're close to the line but we're not close to settling it?

Either way, we are so fricked. This is a dumpster fire and Kelly needs to be held accountable.
