The work never ends at a camp - dead animals...

So two days ago the wife informs me that the back patio STINKS. I check all the grills/griddles for leaking gas. Nope. Got to be a dead animal under the deck.
Get a light, pull up a few boards. It's a huge dead raccoon. He's crawled up under the tightest part of the deck to die. Poor dude knew he was sick and wanted to die away from the foxes probably.
Now I have to get a saw, cut out some deck boards, and scoop him out. Woof.

I would just leave it alone. The smell will go away soon enough.

If you let it sit get ready for a shite ton of flies. I had a mouse die in the back wall of my house by the porch. Had so many flies they filled up one of those hanging traps with the water.
On a different note, that's a rough way to go knowing it's either die stuck in a spot or foxes.

He said HUGE dead racoon. That thing will stink to hell and back for over a month minimum, especially if the weather where he lives is like what's going on in N.O. right now with daily rains and high humidity.
No way in hell I'd leave it under my deck to rot, but I'm not you.

Same thing happened at my house. Cat killed a couple of chipmunks and a week or so later it looked like sub-Saharan Africa.

It's already starting. Flies are so gross. The project begins in an hour or so.

If I was doing that, I'd opt to put on one of those face masks and put it to good use by sprinkling some cologne on it to help mask the smell.
At least put a face Kotex to a practical purpose.

Every year around Christmas a opposum goes under our house and dies . I can't fit under the house . I'm fat , it smells for a couple of weeks . We burn candles and spray furniture with smell goods .

Hate that. Got me back in January. We pull in late Friday evening after the long drive. Wife walks in ahead of me and comes back saying "we can't sleep here, it smells horrible!" Ripped the place apart and never could find the culprit. We still stayed though...

just run by home depot, and find the smallest skinny mexican you can hire, and send him in after it.
i wouldnt be tearing all that shite out, if need be tell wifey the camps closed for a month until the stink is gone, she wont object

Well we got him. Dad and I cut a few boards out and scooped him into a trash bag with a spade. Biggest raccoon I've seen in a long time, too.
Was a pretty easy job other than the stench.

friend of mine worked for ICE bringing refugees back to 3rd world African countries on chartered airliners...
They used vicks vapor rub on their masks to hide the smell of those they were transporting.

Yep, that's a trick some folks use who recover bodies that have been out for a few days rotting. Also in a scene from "Silence Of The Lambs" when Clarise was doing the exam of one of Buffalo Bill's victims.

Just dump a few bags of Lime on top of him..it will help kill the smell, repel the flies and help with decomposition.

You're not from around here are you?
But mission accomplished.
