Bingham wasn't drafted. Montgomery in the portal may change our urgency on him.

I thought the word with Cam was always he wants to be in pro. I’m still worried
If that was the case, his number would’ve been lower and he’d be gone

I know JUCO lets him draft again asap but how does it get him drafted higher without his asking price dropping? I don’t get it. The competition there isn’t the same. And yea, he’ll make money while at LSU

Oh I agree, just saying that’s always been the rumblings

Well JUCO is better competition and he had a slight arm issue going into this draft.
In theory, he can be 100% healthy, against better competition, and he’s a year older while still not being very old. A little less risk for the team drafting him at 19 instead of 18.
That’d be his line of thinking, not saying I agree 100%

You really can’t ever put any stock into someone’s “number” can you

Cam Johnson was their only high schooler drafted, the other 18 were College or Juco.
This is realistically what I think they can come up with for him. $150K (20th slot) + $315K (5% bonus pool) + $500K (4th Rd Quinn Mathews savings) + $225K (7th round Charles Harrison savings). That’s about $1.2Mil.
Getting more into the weeds, they might be able to find another $150-300K to get up to $1.5Mil, but unless Chase Davis took less than slot in the first (which I don’t think I would if I were him), then they’re not signing Cam. Plus I almost zeroed out their 2 seniors value, which may not be the case for Quinn Matthews.

I mean, he should be excited about being drafted. It's a big deal. Doesn't change that he'd have to come off his number significantly to sign though.

i’m pretty sure his number is north of 150k he’s gonna have to wait to see what the Cards can carve away from their tiny bonus pool.

The guy can’t be excited to be drafted? He may sign if they get him enough $$ but a “yessir” hardly screams that he’s gone.

Matthews has another year of eligibility too, fwiw

No. He should be at Alex Box now, imho

Agreed. Get it done Gordon

Like we mentioned in the Jake Brown conversation, this is with them saving every penny for just Cam which is unlikely. They will probably have to spread it around a little here and there.

Yep I agree. I was just trying to come up with worst case scenario for both and I can’t make the numbers work.

They only drafted one HS player and it was Cam. They’re not going to have to spread much around if anything for players drafted 11-20 (sans Cam).
