Now if someone could go through and say who are the starters, who had significant playing time, and who are the scrubs.

Their offensive line, IMO, is the key to the game. if our defensive line plays up to its potential, we could kill their offense.

wow, are those all scrubs or do some of them actually start?

Sturdivant/Owens probably would have been on most people's top 5 most important UGA players before the season. Both were lost with ACL tears early on (Sturdivant in fall practice, Owens in 1Q of Game 1). Both will likely be first round draft picks after next season.
Marcus Washington would have been a starter at LB (also lost before the year), but Georgia is fairly deep at LB and Curran/Ellerbe are the 2 best. Ellerbe is a senior and our middle linebacker. He hasn't played the last 2 weeks and it sounds like he will be limited if he even plays against LSU.
Kris Durham is our #3 WR and has been out with a sprained ankle since the Alabama game. Sounds like he's ready to go again, and that's a big help for us.
Vince Vance replaced Sturdivant at LT but tore his ACL against Tennessee. We are down to 7 functional OL, all of them freshmen and sophomores.

The lowdown for those of you who haven't watched UGA much this season is this. Our run D has been awfly stingy so far and are #3 in the country in yards per game. Our Passing D has been pretty suspect and Bryan Evans (#3) has become the other teams target over the past few games and he's been burnt a few times. Asher Allen (#2) is the other corner and he is the real deal. Part of the pass D's problem is that we haven't been able to pressure the QB on a regular basis so to strictly blame the secondary would be a little out of line. On offense, we've stacked up yards like cord wood. That said, we have managed to shoot ourselves in the foot with penalties, turnovers, and questionable playcalling at times so we have yet to light up the scoreboard. We have a freshman kicker who has a cannon for a leg and most everyone thinks he's a good one but he did miss two last week so we'll see how he bounces back. If he misses one early it won't be a good sign for UGA.

Sounds like '03 all over again.

UGA's depth chart....
LINK
Notice that your youngest DL is as old as out oldest OL. This worries me ALOT! We start three freshmen and two sophs on the o line.

what about yall's offensive line?
you just answered that, how have they been though, are they just getting by on knowshon's skills.

They are young but they are starting to come together so we'll see. It was this time last year that our OL came together and we started killing folks... Stacy Searels is the OL coach and y'all are familiar with him. He is a good coach and they are coming around.

Not even close really.
In 2008, even with Injuries, UGA will have 5 or 6 "returning starters" playing on offense (QB, FB, RB, WR, 2 OL).
In 2003 UGA had 1 returning starter on offense, David Greene.
Our 2008 Offense is alot better than our 2003 offense.
However, our 2008 defense is not even close to as good as 2003.

got ya. durham plays but he's the third or fourth guy after green and massaquoi. chandler is the starting te but everyone hates him bc he cant catch shite. sturdivant would have started but he's been gone all year. vance has been starting in his place so thats pretty big and chris davis starts as well, but he'll still play. we're screwed there.
on defense, lomax starts and he'll still play. owens is big as he started and he's gone.weston gets some pt with atkins and irvin at dt. ellerbe is the only real important guy out at lb. curran, dent, dewberry, and gamble should be all we need saturday. hebron would prob get game time if he was available. quintin banks is a back up at safety and may be in for a few plays but doesnt matter.
in all, important injuries = chandler, vance, sturdivant, owens, ellerbe
important playing with injuries = lomax, davis, ellerbe (maybe)
scrubs = everyone else

Watch out for the true frosh AJ Green though... He's #8 and he is a freak. We'll go to him early and often...

Serious Question: How many rushing yards did GA give up against Bama?
Posted on 10/23/08 at 1:31 pm to FrodgieBoolatz
Too bad Rennie Curran will be playing. Not that I want him injured, but a fever or mild case of food poisoning would be nice on Saturday. That dude straight up flys. We'll need someone that can block him. Not that he can't be blocked, it's just catching up to him to block him that's the issue.

Who's this you speak of? I don't think anyone knows anything of him other than the Bulldog faithful.
