#2 in All-purpose yards slightly behind Jerry Rice...why is he NOT in the Hall of Fame?
I'll hang up and listen

Stat compiling kick returner don't get in the hall of fame. He's not even the best kick/punt returner of his era. Mel Gray and Deion were getting all-pro in front of him and later returners like Hester and Dante Hall were way better. If the league doesn't basically outlaw kick returns Sproles would have the all-purpose yards on him but with better rushing and receiving numbers.

Legit beef since NFL HOF qualifications are kind of soft.

These numbers speak for themselves. NFL all-time career statistics:
1st Punt Returns — 463
1st Punt Return Yards — 4,999
1st Kick Returns — 607
1st Kick Return Yards — 14,014
1st Kick & Punt Returns — 1,070
1st Kick & Punt Return Yards — 19,013
1st 2000+ All-Purpose Yard Seasons — 4, tied with several other players
2nd All-Purpose Yards — 23,316
3rd Punt Returns for Touchdown — 9
2nd Kick and Punt Returns for Touchdowns — 13
Mel Gray - TD's PR - 3 ; KR - 6 = 9
Deion - TD's PR - 6; KR - 3 = 9
D. Hall - TD's PR - 6 ; KR - 6 = 12
Mitchell - TD's PR - 9 ; KR - 4 = 13
D. Hester - TD's PR - 14 ; KR - 5 = 23 <--- edit: oooops , should be 19 my bad

Hester > Mitchell as return specialists are overlooked by the HOF voters. ST's are a very important part of the game

There’s a standard bro. He’s well below it

If Jerry Rice is the standard...he is the closest one to him. Special Teams are over looked by the HOF...which is bullshite.
Not to mention B-Mitch got reps at QB in the Body Bag game against Philadelphia in 1990...and was an above average running back.

11 of the top 20 in all purpose yards are not in the HOF, some aren't eligible yet but Wes Welker, Darren Sproles, Tiki Barber, Steve Smith, Eric Metcalf, Derrick Mason, aren't getting in.

While I'm not necessarily going to argue that Brian Mitchell should be in the Hall of Fame, Art Monk did get in, and he was basically a career state compiling receiver.
Only once was he All-Pro, only three Pro Bowls, and was likely never, at any point in his career, seen as even a Top 3 player at his position.

Imagine being 216 yards behind the player voted by ESPN as the greatest football player of all-time and you are NEVER considered for the Hall of Fame...stupid

100 yards per game because you get 5 kick returns isn't the same as 100 yards per game because you caught 10 passes or ran 20 times.

He was a change of pace backup that peaked at 625 yards rushing/receiving in a season. That ain't above average.

Don't get me wrong, I love me some Brian Mitchell and think he was a damn good football player. When he was at USL in 1989, I was on a recruiting trip to Southern Miss, and saw him single-handedly whip Favre and the Eagles asses. However, he's not a HOFer any way you look at it.

Lived in canton for five years. Took all visiting family to HOF. Who doesn’t?
First time I went, was surprised at how many inductees there were.
Especially compared to Baseball HOF.
I always thought they don’t have room for expansion. Too easy to get into football HOF.

Well the average NFL team also has significantly more players. Why are you even comparing it to the baseball HOF when it’s considered maybe the hardest one to get into?
The early NFL teams have arguably have too many guys that got in. Just look at modern (since 2000) NFL RBs that had notable careers but will never sniff the HOF. There’s so many. Some of them are 10K yard rushers too. And that’s just RBs post 2000.
There are multiple guys with 2-3 All-Pro selections that will never make it. All-Pros are supposed to be prestigious and these guys have multiple
The Pro Football HOF is not that easy to get into.
