Probably depends on the couple's preferences. And likely what their bill situation looked like before the marriage. I could see folks who got married later on who kept their individual accounts.

I've known some that have one joint account and then their own separate accounts. All of the big bills come out of the joint account and the smaller accounts are used for personal spending.

We don't have a joint account at this point (not married yet) but he has access to mine and I have access to his.
