ok i've been alive 23 years and have been following lsu sports since i can remember

as far as basketball goes, i'd go with chris jackson. say what you want about the guy and what he became later on in life, but he is probably the best athlete i ever saw play for LSU, i still watch some games we recorded on vhs and even on youtube because i was only about 4 when he was in college, unstoppable, could score in any way shape or form, one of the most unreal offensive skill sets i have ever seen on a basketball player at any level.

football, you've got to say a toss up between kevin faulk and josh reed. both of them were almost impossible to contain. but i would like to throw a couple of defensive guys in there as well. bradie james and glenn dorsey. bradie james was just fun to watch, racking up tackle after tackle and leading the james gang. dorsey...i remember him entering the game towards the end of that peach bowl game and immediately driving through the line and stuffing a run. i was like "damn. he's gonna be good." a couple of years later, look at him now. i also loved marcus spears and marquise hill, you always gotta feel confident with guys like that on your d-line. any kevin faulk game is memorable, but i still think of rohan to reed especially that bama game a lot.

No love for Dorsey?

By generation, I think Cannon or Taylor is the greatest from the old days, Bert Jones from the 70s, and Dorsey from the modern era.

Cannon by far was the best although I did not see him play. Hundred yard SEC champ and also won the discus. The "diesel" had unlimited potential but the best all-around back I watched was Dalton Hilliard. From frosh on he got every ounce of talent out of his body running, blocking, and receiving. Cassanova was also in a class by himself as DB. My pick for lineman was Andolsek. Reciever would be Wendel Davis and linebacker would be Caston.

it has to be Pistol Pete....
if you have never seen him..
get a video and multiply what you see by at least 2.
be prepare to accuse the video of being edited.

he still holds the NCAA record for pts....
and there was not a 3 pt shot.
..experts say that he would have averaged another 10 + points per game.

after that...
Pettit, who changed the game of B Ball (at least his position)

then maybe Billy Cannon
\these have done what other have not.
some of the other were talented but did not achieve beyond their position...

not a negative, just an evaluation.

You youngsters need to read the History of LSU Athletics...various books...

People like Chris J. could not carry Pistol Pete's suitcase.

I agree: he was playing both ways until he separated his shoulder on a running play--cover of SI and was mean as hell.

Mike Clayton played both ways til Roy Williams separated from him and CWeb. Ron Franklin still thought the world of him.
