Homeowners Policy Doubled

So my old carrier left the state so I had to get a new policy. My homeowners policy doubled. Insurance agent told me like 20 carriers picked up and left the state following Ida and the six hurricanes we have had in the last 2 years. Said there aren't many left that are writing new policies. Great times we are living in!

well if it only went from $1400 to $2800, that's not bad.

My insurance agent told me the same thing even though my carrier wasn't leaving. I got a new agent and got a much cheaper policy with the same carrier. Call another agent. It's worth a shot.

I'm so mad at this big corporation for making a rational financial decision.

cause i'm a good guesser. just tell yourself you had a super competitive rated policy last year and move on with your life for now. There are people having to pay 5k-8k in insurance costs for a $250k home right now.

I doubled my land and home size when I move out of an A hazard flood zone based on insurance alone. Now I'm 750ft above sea level on acreage. Much better than 10 feet above sea level near the beach.

I’ve heard of Citizens quotes as high as $11k for normal houses….
It’s getting really bad and going to get worse. God forbid we have another storm hit anywhere in LA…

Lol, mine was $700 this year. Just renewed

almost $1k a month just for insurance? I think I'd move. That would have been half of my house payment at one time.

I'm paying about $2400 a year on about a half million dollar home - USAA - but they increased it quite a bit this year.

Wow, they charge that much in the projects

I think mine is up to around 2700. We did have a claim a year or so ago (non storm related). Not sure how much that's hurting me.

it's different when you live in an area with multiple recent natural disasters but I use an agent and they shop around every time a policy comes up for renewal, fwiw, pleased with their service

You can thank the friendly retards on the left. They voted for this because it's easier to shell out 50% more for things than just ignore mean tweets.
