Been a Dodger fan all my life and Vin WAS the Dodgers. Very sad day he will be missed. Great broadcaster but even greater human being. RIP Vin.

Love me some Vin Scully. “It’s time for Dodger baseball” is a siren call to Dodgers fans.

One of my favorite stories is a Boeing game in Dodger stadium back when folks brought in transistor radios. “On the count of three…” Dodger stadium erupted with “Happy Birthday, Frank”. Frank was the home plate umpire.

Such a treasure.

Nearly dead 90 year old men aren't the NFL's target fan demo. See NFL revenue increases.

Possibly, but nearly 90 year old hall of fame broadcasters who have called NFL games and is beloved throughout sports, is a demo they might care about.

I got a kick out of a call back in 2007. L.A. acquired a Taiwanese player from the Mets named Chin-Lung Hu. In his third game as a Dodger he singled. Scully took a deep breath and said, “OK everybody. All together … Hu’s on first!”

He was the ultimate professional as well. The story of the 1989 Dodgers/ Astros game is legend. He was not supposed to call that game that night. He flew into Houston that night and the game was still going on, so he headed to the Astrodome and gave the crew calling the game for the Dodgers ( and I think the Astros as well) a break because they had gone 13 innings already. The game went 22 innings and Vin called the remaining 9 solo.

The next day he got up and called a Sunday afternoon game between the Astros and Dodgers.....never missed a beat.

He also was almost the # 1 football team with Madden. They paired him with Madden for some games and then Sumrall. As a consolation he and Stram called the NFC Championship game and called Dwight Clark's catch.

Watched the Gibson home run tonight. So epic.
Scully’s voice was so strange and monotone, but man, he was perfect.

Fook mi, that was a good run. Fell in love with baseball watching the first Yankees' series without Ruth, did a job he loved (probably "never worked a day" in his life) for 67 fricking years.
