I think Tackett is more college ready, but Weeks has a ton of upside. I think both will have excellent careers. Hate we can’t land Tack, but some bridges aren’t rebuilt overnight.

Good question I was just looking at On3’s rankings other day and they have Tackett as 18th best linebacker (215 overall player) Ausberry 19th best linebacker (219 overall player) and Weeks 23rd best linebacker (251 overall player) so not much difference in On3’s rankings

Edit: who was on here other day saying Curtis is the best LB in the country? Maybe he is but there is definitely a big discrepancy in all the services rankings but I guess you can say that with just about every recruit

Tackett may hit harder, but is more stiff as well. Reminds me of a poor man’s Brian Cushing. Weeks is more rangy and athletic of the two. He played a good amount of offense last year and displayed good burst. I think Weeks offers more in today’s game with his ability to cover and tackle in space.

Tackett by a good bit

But I wonder how much older he is. He’ll play most of his Sr year at 19

Curtis is probably better right now, but he’s a lot closer to his ceiling than Weeks. Whit has a chance to be really good as he continues to develop physically. I’d be nervous to add much more mass to Curtis in college for fear of making him even tighter.

Weeks seems like a really exceptional all-around athlete and football player. In his junior highlights, he makes plays at ILB, OLB, DE, and S on defense; TE and RB on offense; and KR, LS, FG block, and wedge buster on special teams.

ETA: Curtis also has some nice runs at QB and KR.

I think Curtis is in for a rude awakening when he doesn’t get to start 10 yards behind the LOS. That tells me that his read and recognition skills are subpar and his dad put him at a position that highlight his strengths and hide his weaknesses. We’ll see if he has that same missile intensity when he’s only 4 yards behind LOS and having to fight through D1 linemen instead of 2A Louisiana HS lineman.

I expect Weeks to be bigger and polished this season.

Curtis will have little to no change in his game. Would like to see his uncle move him closer to the LOS.

Weeks plays all over the field and multiple positions. To me he seems like more of a Football Player than just an LB. I like that personally. I feel that gives him a better overall understanding when reading and reacting. He also plays better competition at his school.

I'm going to say Weeks.

Here's why I say that...
They both excel in certain areas, so that makes it close. But where Weeks excels in comparison to Curtis, namely agility/speed/fluidity, fits today's game better.

If asked this question 20 years ago I'd say Curtis because a LOS thumper in the middle was a centerpiece. But against todays offenses you have to layer coverage, while still getting pressure, with S's and LB's handing off duties to each other depending on scheme/looks. Weeks can handle that better.

I pretty much always look at it from a blocking point of view, so I ask myself if I'm an OG who is harder to first get my hands on and then secondly block once I do; the answer is Weeks.

Weeks does play against better competition too, even if slight to moderate, so he is easier to project.

Watch the Many v Union game where Trey Holly ran all over Many. I didn’t see much to impress me by Tackett Curtis.
