Appropriate age for Washington DC?

Haven't been to DC in a few years and would like to get back. My previous trips have included walking anywhere from 5-10 miles a day exploring museums and monuments. Obviously that won't work with my 3 year old in tow. Anybody been to DC with young kids? Is it even worth trying or should we just wait until she's older?

Wait until they ask.
Read some history together. Talk about Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln.
Talk about the monuments.
Maybe it will spark and interest.

Well Joe Biden has the brain of an 8 year old so I am going to say wait til at least 8 years old or higher.

I mean you may not be able to walk as much but you can Uber, going see the Natural Science Museum would be cool for kids

We were there for a week in June moving my daughter to Arlington. We toured DC for 3 days and didn't come close to seeing even the things we wanted to see. There were a huge amount of families there but I think I'd wait until my kid was 8 or so before making the trip - both for appreciation sake as well as all the walking it entails.

I went as a 5 year old and didn't really remember anything and really didn't appreciate what I was seeing, I would say wait until around 10 or 11.

Upper elementary school. Old enough that they can have some concept of what they are seeing. With a 3 year old, you're going for you. She won't have a clue what she's seeing although a few things could be fun.

I first went when I was 6. I don't remember much of the trip except for how special it was for my grandfather.
I went again when I was 15 with mostly the same group of family, and to this day, it was one of the most memorable trips I've ever taken in my life.
I would honestly wait until pre-teen at the earliest.
