I can never get my head around Sterling as a CF…is a 100% a winger for me. I love the pace he brings paired with Reece on the right side.
I’m interested in seeing Mount as a CF. He hasn’t ever played there but the kid has an eye for goal and plays very well centrally. He doesn’t give us much in the air (none of the options do though) but I think he could be interesting interplay with CP on the left side cutting in and Sterling bombing down the right.
Kai…he needs some bench time. He always looks like he is going through the motions and I want to see some fire from him.

The problem is that we have too many guys like Kai (CP, Timo) who show signs of greatness (thanks Kai for the Champions League ??) but none are consistent. I’m sure they could all make the claim that more playing time would equal more consistency, but we aren’t at training and don’t see what TT sees. If Timo is gone, and it looks like he is, I want to see Broja get his minutes. And some of Kai’s.

As frustrating as Timo was at finishing, he was quite good as a decoy running off defenders to create space. I fully expect him to bag 20+ with RB back in Germany.

Are we really interested in Zaha? Lots of smoke about a trade for CHO.

As long as we include a buy back clause for CHO then I am game for us moving him. He needs more time than we are giving him.
Zaha is a terrific player…I’m unsure if he can play centrally though. The reality is we have plenty of wingers and no one in the middle of the pitch to finish crosses or play off. I still think CR7 is the highest quality player available to check that mark as a one year solution.

Last season, Zaha usually started & stayed in the wing during transitions. So if CP got the ball to him early, yes, it is usually in the wing with enough space for him to dribble inwards. But when CP mantainted possession in the attacking half, LB Mitchell would run up to cover the traditonal wing space and Zaha would rotate in more towards corner of the box or even further central.
And Zaha did make a couple of starts last season at CF with other players starting at the wings.
But if you mean play more centrally in the traditonal CMF role, then he was never really utilized that way.

I’m willing to give Broja a chance there. I’m afraid the realistic scenario is the window closing without signing a striker.

Champions League draw is a bitch. Bayern, Barca and Olympiacos. Sheesh. The Barca pairing will be especially interesting given the shithousery they’ve managed during this window.

Are you sure? I don't think the draw has happened yet.

Yeah I’m fricking around but they’ll find a way to put us with Barca just watch

Of course Timo scores in his Red Bulls debut. Honestly not expecting much tomorrow vs TOT. Hope I’m wrong.
Posted on 8/13/22 at 8:29 pm to In The Know
Draw with TOT would be a win at this stage in the season. We will need it to be a low scoring affair…I don’t see us scoring more than a goal or two. Maybe Tuchel throws an unexpected tactical wrinkle.
