I forget what the default tip options are but I know they’re pretty high, think it starts at 18%. What says the OT

20% is good tip for restaurant service.

Not driving a car from point A to Point B.

Tipping for EVERYTHING, especially at those rates, is out of hand.

Especially when you are already paying 5-6x surge pricing…and they want 20% off that amount.

One time I got an uber driver from BR that took us all the way from downtown to Meridian.

I tipped him like $40 or $50 bucks.

Drivers don't get that. They USE to get all the surge, then most of the surge, then half the surge, now none of the surge. The pay for drivers is completely disconnected from what the customer pays now.

The drivers receive 75% of the fare listed on what you see as a passenger.

I’m done tipping. Either the employer charges me the necessary fee/fare to pay their employee or the employee can work elsewhere. I do live in a state where servers and restaurant workers make around $15/hr without tips. So I don’t feel bad for not tipping them.

Where did you see this load of bull shite? 40-50% is typical, the percentage goes down as the surge goes up. It use to not be like that, but Uber is really putting the pressure on drivers. The average earnings per hour has gone down to $19 for the BR market, that is pitiful when you take into account expenses.

This has to be the 100,000+ tip post on OT.

If someone is giving you a service, trying to make a living for themselves and their family - start with their initiative and how much they get paid for their service.

So if it's "Uber/Lyft drivers" just think about how much Taxi's cost back in the day.

TLDR: I tip well.

I've been driving for Uber for over a year, and it is starting too not be worth it. It is also rare for people to tip now a days; I can't imagine doing it for a living right now.

This is not normal. LA is still $2.13+

not really

when i signed up to be a driver in 2014, i got 80%. it depends on city and when you signed up. if a driver signs up now, he gets 53%

in California, i've heard it's even less

I asked why it took more time to get a ride from Tacoma (outside of Seattle) than it did from the Lake Union area (DT area). In Seattle, it is certainly 75%. Multiple drivers have informed me, because they get paid more due to a city ordinance being passed by the current Mayor that when they work Seattle the pay is higher than any burb outside of the DT city limits.
