Honestly the show was not that good. I much preferred The Shield.

You can prefer whatever you want, but saying the Wire “was not that good” is just undeniably false if that is not that good than literally nothing is good

Yeah. It’s normal to not like certain shows but to say the wire isn’t good is false

Opinions don’t matter at that point. Lol

I hated sesson 2 though.

After watching the whole series. Season 2 was fantastic. It was crucial to the whole point of the show. Now we can all agree ziggy sucks.

The show would not be nearly as impactful or meaningful without Season 2

Season 2 turns it from a regular cops vs robbers drama into character study of the city of Baltimore itself

If you are focusing on the Barksdale organization, you’re missing the Forrest for the trees. Season 2 forces you to zoom out and realize what you’re really looking at.

When you get to Season 3, just know its a current rebuttal to every progressive, community policing policy currently under consideration or enacted.

Hamsterdam concept is something liberal cities thought would work, still thinks works and is nothing but outright failure.

Thats one reason why its a great show.

Those plots weren’t made to be a commentary on their validity as concepts, it was to show that no matter what drastic measures you’re willing to do to try to address short term issues in the community, the broader systematic issues will be the down fall of it all. The system is built to not be fixed. It’s built to protect those in power and those who help protect those in power.

I think you missed the point pretty hard if you just thought that was David Simon going “haha these are dumb!”

I wasn't trying to write a dissertation. Its one aspect of the season, but sure, you're correct.

If you don’t like it after episode 5, you don’t have the mental capacity required to enjoy it

Was it a failure? Crime went down. It served it’s purpose

Junkies are gonna shoot up regardless, humanitarian folks were able to hand out their clean needles and contraceptives directly and it kept all of that shite away from normal citizens so much so that they actually felt safe to go outside again.

It is a Shakespearian tragedy. My god, Chris Bauer played the frick out of Francis "Frank" Sobotka. God it is so good.

To me it takes off when Kima goes undercover and that goes to shite

That’s my turning point

But stick it out anyway. It’s so great

It’s really not a slow burn, through episode 5 they reveal a ton of info involving all the characters.

The plot seems simple but they show how complicated it truly is.

That guy is good in everything. He was great in The Deuce as a guy who gets roped into the NYC porn world of the 70s.
