Dude is obviously the goat pole vaulter but reminds me of Damone from Fast Times at Ridgemont High.

Being a big man in Sweden comes with blonde benefits.

is mondo a childhood nickname?
watching him on the run up he looks the fastest I ever saw. the others all look slower by a lot.

I wonder just how high could he jump..... if he really tried . Him "upping" his WR by 1 cm at a time and collecting his $$$ is good, but what if he gets hurt and never really jumps up to his true potential.
He is clearing the bar with lots of room to spare. I think he could jump 20' 8" easily. Is 21' possible for him?

At least he can compete without stupid USA qualifying rules where one mistake could mean no Olympics

If I remember correctly, he ran the 100 once his senior year in HS for the first time and clocked a 10.6 and has been timed at 10.3. He’s head and shoulders faster than anyone else in the pole vault.

Yes, Armand Gustav Duplantis.

Very fast. Speed is a key in generating the spring required to clear greater heights. Obviously form, strength, and equipment play a factor as well
His dad was also a pole Vaulter and relatively short for a vaulter. I think he was the shortest guy to clear 19 foot. His speed was also a factor in how high he could jump, his approach was very fast as well, if my memory serves.

He's half Swedish and the most popular track athlete in the world. USA Track & Field made dumb rules, he chose to avoid them. Track is so much more popular in Europe than it is here. His endorsements are ridiculous !!!! Good for him !

Mondo is going to kick the shite out of whatever poor sap America puts out there.
At least he can compete without stupid USA qualifying rules
How many times does rain or weather impact events held in Oregon and USA trials come down one mistake that wipes out years of training even thought you’ve already proven you are best in world
