It’s all a bunch of BS. Nixon fricked up. We would not have the same Mexico problems with the cartels, the high incarceration rate for non violent crimes, or the high budget for drug investigations in local police forces.

Drug addicts are going to find drugs no matter what. Put those people in rehab or let them die from their addiction.

They also take up a lot of time/resources from EMTs. If those fackers have consistent source then they know the line. Sure they will still walk the line and cross it but at least it won't be accidental.

Meanwhile we let the Purdue pharma family get away with almost the equivalent of genocide of the poor warehouse and coal miner's. The courts literally structured the fines so that the family would still be solvent with even a first year ed Jones advisor at the helms.

Well, Fentanyl will soon correct the problem, so

Be a little more specific.

What's your approach? Are you for full on legalization of everything?

Legalize it like alcohol.

All of it? Wouldn't legalizing some substances, like fentanyl, result in unacceptable amounts of accidental exposures by innocent people?

Did I stutter? Legalize it all. No one is buying legal fentanyl. Most fentanyl deaths are from cocaine or opiates being cut with it.

No, I'm just asking questions.

"Legal fentanyl" is too expensive and difficult to divert. I think we need to fight the fentanyl crisis more aggressively. Focusing on main sources, not the poor ghouls hooked on it.

Non violent crime incarceration is a catch term that sucks. Breaking into homes, stealing catalytic converters, a/c units for the copper are considered non violent offense that drug addicts normally commit. For decades there have been public service campaigns showing the harm of drug addiction. Of a person is so much of a mental midget that they still decide to get hooked to the point of committing these crimes, then they can surely deal with the repercussions.

Agreed.

I used to be all in on the war on drugs, but once I actually dug in and read the arguments against it, especially from Milton Friedman, I changed my views w/ the quickness.

Also, how is it that alcohol prohibition needed a constitutional amendment, but the war on drugs didn't?

Unsurprisingly, drugs has won the war on drugs.

Give drugs to the losers for free. Maybe normal people won't have to worry so much about their stuff being stolen by dope addicts.

Treat addiction like the medical problem it is.

Through due process, hang the traffickers swiftly, consistently and loudly.

Is this normal? I have never been concerned that a druggie would steal my stuff. Ever.

If you want a war on drugs, go after the manufacturers and distributors. Not the end users.

And can we all be honest? If it wasn’t for the CIA introducing crack into the black community and stirring up violence the likes this country hadn’t seen since the Wild West, there would be no war on drugs.
