I am not a lawyer but I think the bigger question is was there a JSA in place for this particular task?

Oh and your boss is fricked and is fired he just doesn't know it yet.

If you’re going to be expected to perform the same action going forward, I’d recommend coating your arms in egg whites, then rolling them in seasoned corn meal, then removing the cap on the superhot pressurized oil.

You don’t know what you’re talking about. Being in a union or not has nothing to do with whether or not an accident is covered by WC. All that matters is whether or not an accident causing injury occurred in the course and scope of employment. Been in the WC defense business for 20 years.

Wouldn’t some of that experience translate to you not being burned at your current job?

This

This case doesn't sound as cut and dry as the OP is hoping.

I left the truck on steam that arrived 2 days prior on another shift. Oil needed to be at 180 degrees to be offloaded to hydro tanks. Previous shift didn't do anything, except late know Prime dropped it off on the curb. I opened the top before offloading,to vent off pressure. Used a scan temp gun ad it was 225. Burned oil that had to be be bleached. No SOP was never in place to offload. Believe me, the company I work for uses man-lifts to pull back rail cars will chains, instead of a track-mobile. Rail road just brings in the cars. It's like the wild west there and I know how OSHA and other procedures work.

OP you definitely have something here. But let the Union Rep advise you first. Don't hire an attorney if the Union goes to bat for you. That way you may be able to keep your job AND collect a settlement

Don’t listen to mikel. This is shite advice.

I wouldn’t be talking about it on the internet tbh. I’d talk to a lawyer and keep my mouth shut until told by the lawyer

Your boss is retarded, asking the injured employee to write a SOP after accident.

Did ya'll have a JSA in place?

Sorry for your injuries but if they were really that serious I think you would have been hospitalized. Sounds like you were back at work the next day. At least should be workman’s comp

safety shower water was not as hot as the oil.

Water probably wasn't hot at all. I had borderline 2nd/3rd degree burn to 75% of my body in 2017.

When they gave me my first bath, the water felt like it was boiling, it wasn't, it was just my body
