Damn that eerily sounds like the Tua and Fitzpatrick situation the last couple years.

Hasn’t it been one of those sports rumors for years that Simms was handed the starting job by Mack in exchange for signing there?

Seems to explain why Simms always started and fricked up while Applewhite would come in to clean up the messes

Eh, Simms didn't get his first start until the A&M game his freshman year, and that was only because Major got sick. He wasn't even officially named the full-time starter until his junior year, and they nearly made it to the BCS championship game.

Objectively, Simms wasn't a bad QB, but he was terrible in huge games against OU and the Big XII championship game against CU. The expectations for him in Austin were basically national championship or bust, so his failures in games that mattered stand out more in memory.

Kris Jenkins and the Panthers ruined his career.

Like Fox putting Matt Millen on NFL games after Detroit went 31–84 during his eight year tenure as the Lions GM. That includes the 2008 season when the Lions were the first team to lose every game in a season. Yea, that's the guy I want to hear as I'm watching games, especially when it comes to evaluating talent.

That’s actually really quality rankings of those guys. Of course it’s not perfect, but way better than most experts and talking heads.

The knock on Simms was he played inferior talent through high school.

And that came to fruition. “Small game Chris” melted down repeatedly when it mattered including costing Texas a spot in the 2001 NC game with a pitiful performance against Colorado. Texas would’ve had to play a legendary Miami team so maybe it was for the best for his long term health.

You mean the same knock that is on Arch Manning?

Didn't he work with FOX before he went to the Lions?

He has to be the absolute worse “analyst” I have ever seen. That’s saying a lot considering the garbage analyst ESPN cranks out daily.
