I’m not adamantly against weed in the slightest. In fact, I quite enjoy it. I am adamantly against reading incomprehension, though. And I’m adamantly against intentional dishonesty by both sides, because that is why shite never gets done. Or the wrong shite does.

Difficulty eating, sleeping, less energy. Sorry if I’m hurting the weed brigades feelings but there are actually well documented withdrawal effects. Nothing compared to alcoholism or other drugs but they do exist

Yeah, I know you have it in your system for a long period of time
because it wants to be there..

Other drugs like cocaine and opiates..your body pushes them out after a few days.

But your body wants to keep the weed, and the weed wants to be there.

For someone that claims to be against dishonesty and reading "incomprehension", you seem to be promoting it.

Without even bothering to read your entire diatribe, I still noticed you mentioning the brains of developing kids in your rant. When you have to be 21 to even legally purchase it, why even bring this up?

Are you trying to make the argument that legalizing weed will make it easier for minors to obtain it? If so, I'm calling BS. Anyone that wants weed in a state where it is still illegal can get it with no problems.

And you know that is from not smoking weed?

People that have never smoked a joint in their life have days with those "symptoms".

I'm not sure I've ever seen someone argue the toxicity of alcohol as a positive benefit compared to weed. That's certainly a novel approach, I'll give you that.

Don't forget to list some of the other biological effects of alcohol, like liver damage, premature aging, crippling no-shite-for-real physical (and psychological) addiction, DT's, premature death, accidental death from overconsumption, the possibility of death from withdrawals, etc... though I'm genuinely not sure if you believe those to be pro or cons after reading your post.

Seriously, can anyone give me a real answer, as to why weed is still illegal in this country?

Real answer:

Because the majority of the people in the state haven't pushed for it to be legalized.

I’ve been a daily smoker for like ten years, with some long breaks due to work/drug tests. It’s really not hard to quit smoking weed. Maybe a week of having trouble going to sleep but that’s it.

Texas: Lobbyists from out of state filling politicians pockets to keep it illegal. We are now surrounded on all sides. It'll never be legalized here. Just like gambling.

Are people too scared to “come out” and support legalization of pot, especially in the religious south?

Post about your support for it on Facebook, and the next day, your work tells you you have to go and take a drug test, and this goes on for a while. Lots of randoms. Or you post about your support for it, and people at your church, or in your family think there’s something wrong with you for supporting this evil drug.

Sorry to tell you, 57 is too young to be a hippie.

Not quite what I’m arguing, though. I’m saying the intensity and immediacy of those short-term effects usually prevents stringing a bunch of those days together that would cause the long-term effects you mentioned. And I’m certainly not arguing “alcohol is good, weed is bad.” If I had choose a duality, I’d certainly be in the “weed is good, alcohol is bad” camp. But I think that’s a false dichotomy, yet it’s often posed like that, like we can just substitute weed for alcohol as our society’s vice of choice.

But we know that is not the case—there’s no putting the alcohol genie back in the bottle (no pun intended). So if we’re gonna add another legal vice and make it easily accessible—and to make it clear one more time for those in the back, I AM FOR THE LEGALIZATION OF MARIJUANA—we need to be proactive in understanding, educating on, and preparing for the potential consequences of doing so, both individual and societal. And we can’t do that as long as one side treats it the same as heroin and the other treats it like a cup of coffee.
