Just consolidate into two leagues and call them the Union league and Patriot league, and be done with it.

Better than having a Big-10 conference with 16 teams and a Pac-12 conference with only 4 teams after the Big-12 steals 6 of the Pac-12 teams like they are planning.

We are basically going to be at 4, with the ACC and Big 12/Pac 12 being a considerable notch below the SEC and Big 10.

That's where this is going. This is going to eventually end up like the NFL where you have two conferences, each covered by a different tv network, where a few other networks have the rights to do like one game a week.

It will be messy and national for a while, but will eventually find an equilibrium when it splits back into something resembling regional divisions.

What we really should have is ~6ish conferences each super region-centric with 10-12 teams in each. Oh wait we had that and it was perfect until the suits in power only started caring about money.

Maybe, but it will move about as fast as the CFP expansion. Everyone is bored during the offseason & think everything is going to happen fast. It's not.

Other than a potential ND decision, I think the B10/SEC are done making moves for a few yrs & will see how the 16 team leagues work out. Big12/Pac12 might do something in response to the USC/UCLA move, but I don't expect SEC/B10 to keep expanding.

We are basically there. We are going to have what is ultimately a P2 in a 3 tiered set up

The ACC and Big 12/Pac 10 will not be considered major conferences or even remotely equal to the SEC and B1G but they will still have legitimate standing over everyone els3

the only logical conclusion for all this is a new division of college sports where all the TV money gets shared equally. It allows everyone to be happy and the return of regional conferences that feed into a playoff system.

If it was actually about the best interests of the players and fans, we’d have regional 10 team conferences with full round robin schedules and no need for conference title games.

And then every conference champion would have a bowl tie in on New Year’s Day.

Now get off my lawn

I never thought the day would come where I would prefer the nfl over college football. At least the nfl is regulated in such a way to encourage stability and parity.

You do know that you can still have ties in a round-robin, right? I remember plenty of nasty three way ties.

If you were not so short minded and actually envisioned where this thing is headed towards you might be able to see that where this thing is headed their will be more parity/stability.

I’m short minded? What’s been short sighted has been the destruction of generations of college football traditions in the never ending arms race of conference expansion. Perhaps it will end up with more stability eventually, but the road to getting there won’t be pretty.

You rather generation of traditions to stay intact or would you rather watch better games every Saturday through out the college football season? Might be some bumps along the way but as long as the end destination is a better product on the field then give it to me.

I think they need to balanced which they are not right now. If the only criteria is the best players on the best teams, that already exists on Sundays and nobody would have any reason to watch cfb. People watch cfb for the unique traditions and history which the nfl lacks.

It will balance out once it all settles out in the end. It will not be a over night fix but I think in the long run this will allow for more parity. Especially once they break away from the NCAA and actually have people in charge to implement rules to put everybody on the same playing field.
