Your legion coach was a loser…he probably also told you it doesn’t matter if you win or lose but trying your best is what really matters

Gotcha so out of all the collisions that take place a star player gets his ACL blown out because he was blocking the plate cost the team money and so MLB changes the rules…again I’ll stick by my statement don’t block the plate and you won’t get trucked…if you’re a decent catcher you can tell whether or not you need to block the plate or let the runner go…if it’s a bang bang play that’s baseball may the best man win…if you wanna pussify the rules so little Johnny doesn’t take a hit then just say that…guess what else little Johnny isn’t gonna be ready for…the first time he gets punched in mouth. All of these “rule” changes make the game not what it was supposed to be, and y’all ruining these kids while thinking you’re protecting them.

Update: Mom got arrested for indecent exposure and disorderly conduct. Dad got arrested for DUI. Police pulled him over for DUI as Dad was leaving the baseball park. Was kind of funny seeing the cop on foot pulling their truck over.

You are hopeless. Understand that about 25 percent of youth catchers are getting a cup and they are slapping equipment in em. They sure as hell don’t know what position they have established. And there is no need in a 115 lb 10 year old to truck a 65 lb 9 yo because he is slow and frustrated or his coach sent him and shouldn’t.

this is my 8th year of Little League and hopefully my last as hopefully my youngest will be in travel ball next year. Everyone trashes travel ball but by far the worst parents i have seen have been in little league tball and coach pitch, especially girls tball. Little league parents are terrible, especially during the season, but grandparents are the worst. I will say, south lake charles has been 1000000x better this year than other leagues i have been involved in from a parental standpoint. hardly had any issue during season and none during all stars, been so refreshing but honestly not surprising since most of the kids come from 2 parent households that are middle to upper middle class.
like a week ago at the girls tball little league all stars a grandpa of the sulphur team came on the field and punched umpire after the game. then when he got in the car, the coaches got in front to keep them from leaving until the cops got there. the grandma runs over a coaches foot and leg....both grandparents arrested for felony assualt. All over a girls tball game
ftr the parents were same way when i played, especially ville platte as mentioned. mid city was/is bad too.
onyl time i ever see anything remotely like that in travel ball it is usually an assistant from one of the alexandria area teams getting into it with an ump. only other thing i have seen is some of the lower level teams from around lafayette..their players and coaches can get pretty bad especialy the players with the elbowing shite when umpire isnt looking or the hard tags to the helment on pickoffs.
from what i have seen.....higher division and higher the age group...less you see these issues.

I was a catcher and played farm team, dixie youth, pony league, and american legion in the great town of Ville Platte, LA. I got trucked a few times as a catcher, and I've trucked a few catchers as a baserunner. No one was ejected; no one got hurt.
Although, a classmate of mine, and a really good ball player got his elbow blown out in high school when the catcher fell on top of him in a play at the plate. Had to have surgery.

In our game situation, the league rules state that the runner must slide and cannot go home "standing up" if the play at home is close. Catcher can't block the runner and runner can't truck the catcher. This is 10-12 year old pitch league. The ump messed up here. He said the kid (catcher) was not hurt. (He was, slightly) so the runner was not ejected as the league rules state, whether there is an injury or not. The runner lowered his shoulder and trucked him and outweighed the catcher by about 50 lbs. The rule is there to prevent injuries, if possible. Ump's decision and reasoning was the cause of the initial trouble at the game.

You are trying way, way, way too hard.
You really don't have to tell us that you don't have any kids. We can all tell by your post.
We can also tell by your post:
1. You probably weren't that good of a catcher, if at all.
2. You haven't watched baseball very much in the past 15 years.
3. You haven't been to a little league, 10U - 14U, game in forever.
The game has changed. I'm glad it has. My son, 12U player, is getting much better coaching both offensively and defensively than I ever imagined. I am thankful for that, because he's only 90 pounds. He is a catcher and he routinely plays against kids over 5'9" and 160 pounds. That is not a collision he wins, ever. And yes, he has been trucked several times, all intentional, and all resulted in the runner being out.

That’s what happens when we stopped having tryouts to make a team.

Dont be dense...they are kids. Its just simple safety. You may not have gotten hurt but kids don't need to be getting concussions from plays that can be avoided

A guy that I played with was a great catcher. This was back in the very early 90s.
He was drafted out of high school. Playing in the minors he was doing really good. In one game he got run over covering the plate.
Tore his shoulder up and they couldn't/didn't repairs things like that back then.
He got a couple hundred thousand as a signing bonus and that's pretty much all he got. He's been back home since and has worked in a factory.
But go on Atlas. Tells us he's a bitch.

Yeah it makes no sense. Really those plays happen so rarely, its not like its a big entertaining part of the game. It makes sense that especially at low levels you protect the kids from potentially getting hurt, and at higher levels your protecting someones career potentially.

The social decline is real. People aren't capable of handling their own emotional issues.
on top of this being 100% true, I will say that parents are way too protective of their kids.
so the kid got trucked? So what? what is this parent going to do when this kid is a teenager and gets into a fight? is this parent gonna go fight the fight for the kid? fight the parents?
I won some fights, lost some. do not ever remember either of my parents getting involved in any of them. well except the one where I had to defend my sister. the old man just wanted to know what happened to my sister before i took that dude down a notch.
