Assistant coach thrown out for charging the field in protest when his son, the catcher, got trucked by 3rd base runner. (Catcher still got him out, though.) Parent and another assistant coach got into argument and plate umpire had to interfere and threaten ejection. Protest by head coach for illegal player being on the field and at bat. And finally...three cop cars roll in and arrest one player's mother for disorderly conduct and indecent exposure. She dropped her jeans and mooned our team's players and the umps. This ain't the Little League I played in 60 years ago, for sure.

Sounds kinda like the little league I played in 35 years ago. Always some drama, near knuckle checking and occasional cop calling. Especially come allstar time when you had to play those
Neanderthal's from Ville Platte.

I played catcher...that was my job...that plate was mine. What was he protesting? The catcher actually has pads/gear.

We had the new daddy and X husband get tangled up in the stands during a 9U game one time, all hell broke loose.

7-8 cops showed up and hauled them both off to jail as the game played on

The same two had a 100ft rule (some legal mess) and every time the new daddy would get within 100ft the X would call the cops. And here they would all come again and again 7-8 cars rushing to the ball park

Our coach finally told them both to stay home

The social decline is real. People aren't capable of handling their own emotional issues.

The outdoors is not only a refuge from the madness, its a necessity.

I am 52, I umped Tee Ball when I was 15. To this day I have never ever seen fans like back then.

Grandpas are the absolute worst and still are to this day. When one of those pawpaws shows up all decked out in team gear at my sons games now, I know its going to be a looonnnnnngggg day in the stands.

Every old school piece of advice plus a dose of anger will be added every minute on the minute.

That's not the rules any more AS.

Kid should have been out.

My son is 16 and this is the 1st year since he was 4 that he didn't play baseball and I didn't coach him (always assistant as I don't deal with parents well).

I have not missed it.

Incorrect. Runner must avoid contact. Now, if the cather is blocking the path and no play is being made the runner will be declared safe and obstruction will be called or should be called.

I haven’t played baseball since JUCO and I don’t have any kids, but I’ll stick by my original statement don’t block the plate and you won’t get trucked and as a former catcher the correct move is to make sure you secure the ball for the tag and hopefully deliver the trucking instead of being the truckee…if they changed the rule I’m unaware but it wouldn’t surprise me they started handing out participation trophies so I guess it’s ok that if little Johnny isn’t athletic enough to compete with his peers we can change the rules to level the playing field.

I got thrown out a 9 and 10 Dixie youth game for running over a catcher.. he held on to the ball so I was out anyway and It was 3rd out so when I went to get my glove to go back on the field the umpire yelled “hey coach that boy can’t come back on the field”.. umpires explained the rule to the coach I sat down and the game went on… That was it. No one mooned anyone and the cops didn’t have to come and no one was arrested. Different time different world I guess.

Rules governing Contact with the catcher started to change when Buster Posey got his knee destroyed in a bullshite, unnecessary collision.

Really? What do the players do then?

No wonder there are so many problems with the younger generations.
