quote:You have zero data on either, and I believe you are vastly underestimating the costs of banning abortion, even if only in some states. Since we're just guesstimating, let's say that only 10% of likely abortions end up being born, and of those less than half (let's go with 25%) end up being a burden on the system. That is still something like 10k-20k kids each year. And they keep stacking, you know, we don't throw 1 year olds to the curb. In 10 years we'll have over 100k kids racking up bare minimum $10k each, which easily crosses into billion with a B. And that's only to age 10, and only assuming ~2% of abortions end up being avoided and a burden on the system. I wonder how likely those kids are to grow up into well-adjusted and productive adults? Same for the other ~50k/year who were unwanted but kept by their parents. That'll be half a million neglected children in 10 years.
Because we are talking about billions with open borders instead of a couple million with welfare queens not getting abortions. I thought you could comprehend that. Like I said "drop in the bucket".
And we're going to need a bunch of illegals crossing the border so these parents will have cheap child care so they can be productive. Otherwise that will be a far, far bigger drain on the system.
And all of that is of little concern compared to the privacy implications.

I think maybe everyone should think about that, and be thankful you weren’t an undesirable disposable life. These are human beings we’re talking about here, not choices. The choice came and went during intercourse.
Very well put

It's because a large, EXTREMELY loud minority in this country want to force their beliefs on the rest of the country.
They are stupidly incapable of minding their own business and skyscream babykiller at anyone that dares to not be a stupid busybody like they are.

Yeah I don’t get it. Sticking the needle in thr crown of a babies head and sucking their brain out is no big deal. I mean, the baby isn’t guiltless in all of this are they?
There’s a hot place in hell for people that aid and support this.

How do we handle IVF and the unneeded embryos? Who pays to keep them alive forever?
Just wanted to drop by and mention that it is possible to do IVF without extra embryos. It’s a little more challenging and expensive, but I would argue very much worth the effort.

I will go on record as someone who is against abortion, and I'm far from being a religious person. Our Government and society is fricked. We have laws that can put you in jail for destroying turtle eggs, but not a fetus. We also have this thing called birth control and a massive waiting list for people that want to adopt. What if the Father wants to have the kid? If the Mother wants an abortion, we are irrelevant and an afterthought.

For me it’s the desensitization of human life in America. It’s extremely hard to come back from once we cross that line. It may be too late already.

And what about medical procedures? Ectopic pregnancy etc?

Most peoples generally find one issue voters to be a bit zealous and insufferable. That said, that doesn’t mean that person is wrong about that one particular issue.

I’m a one issue voter. My one issue is GTFO my business and let me be federal government.

Because it’s murder. Period. Would people kill someone on a ventilator simply because the can’t “live” on their own?

Sex is a big deal and this is just part of it

No. An abortion is not part of sex

People wanting an abortion will find a way to get one.
So basically all of these anti-abortion state laws are just feel-good legislation, laws for the sake of having more laws, and won't even stop a single abortion from happening.
Step 1. Pass a bunch of laws that will have no effect.
Step 2. Introduce the government all up into pregnant women's wombs, ostensibly to protect the rights of potential persons in there.
Well, that doesn't exactly look like small-government conservatism to me.
