Locked On Twins
So far, I’ve only listened to the first 8 minutes of the 30 min podcast, so there may be more info being reported out of the Twin Cities.
A few tidbits that these Twins insiders have reported tonight are that Wes is going to stay on as the pitching coach for the 5 game series with the Cleveland Guardians, and then head to Baton Rouge. They are puzzled as to why he would leave during the middle of the season and even more perplexed that he would stay on for another week.
They are also reporting that Wes was making @ 350k in Minnesota and that LSU reportedly doubled that to 700k. The two podcasters were upset that Minn didn’t even try to match the offer from Jay Johnson.
Overall, they spoke very highly of Wes and seemed to wish that he stayed in Minneapolis.

Just shows they don't know Wes Johnson. If they did, they would see this is a no brainer for him and his family.

On its face, that does sound weird. But there’s really no other time you could ever voluntarily leave MLB for college. The MLB season is so long, the logistics would never work.

If they are doubling his salary, you can’t really tell your new employer to wait for you until September. Especially when recruiting is involved

work through the end of June?
A year or two at LSU, 3 maybe 4 years of successful HC experience, then he could be a candidate for an MLB Manager job.
He went from College Pitching Coach straight to MLB - and had success - so I'd say it's feasible for him to do it as a Manager also.

Major league head coaches make bank. Assistant coaches not so much. More money better life/work balance. No brainer.

I would like to know how Locked On goes about finding hosts for these shows. The St Louis Cardinals one, the host sounded like a teenager trying to impersonate local radio baseball announcers and he talks in cliches.
The Saints guy is super positive, everything is always great, never critical of anything, and also sounds like he is trying to get a radio job.
One of the Mavs guys is just a fricking idiot who thinks he is a comedian and sounds like a Bill Simmons wannabe.
I had to stop listening to all of these. Locked On created this network brand of sports podcasts by seemingly just hiring the first person to show up for the job to represent whatever team.

Article I read said the Twins tried to engage with him to see what it would take for him to stay on but he wouldn't even bargain.
