Yet, Michael W. Caspino with Forward Counsel in Newport Beach, Calif., said the rumor mill isn’t accurate this time around. Caspino – who has built a reputation as the NIL lawyer representing many top football and basketball prospects – said Rashada took a “considerably lesser NIL deal” by picking the Hurricanes.

“Jaden left millions on the table,” said Caspino, who confirmed he represented Rashada in his NIL negotiations with collectives across the country. “Millions. He did not pick the highest offer. He went there because he loves Miami, the coaches, and the opportunity.”

Multiple sources told On3 Rashada agreed to a NIL deal with Miami mega-booster John Ruiz for $9.5 million. The same sources said Rashada turned down an offer from Florida’s Gator Collective for $11 million. Both offers blow out of the water the Caspino-brokered $8 million deal for a five-star recruit thought to be Tennessee quarterback commitment Nico Iamaleava.

NIL wasn't supposed to be free agency. This is garbage.

And there were so many people stupid enough to think nil wouldn’t turn into pay for play

OSU's QB has an NIL deal worth 2 million-ish I think - 9.5 for a player that hasn't played a single down is fricking ridiculous.

$9.5 million for a kid who hasn’t thrown a pass yet in college. Unreal.

Isn’t this what is not supposed to happen? A deal on the table before the kid enrolls is pay for play. The madness needs to get under control.

I completely whiffed on NIL.

I thought college sports money was basically a zero sum game, and any money coming through NIL would be money coming out of donations for things like facilities and coaching salaries. Instead, they’ve both continued to blow up.

I clearly underestimated how direct payments would entice way more money into the sport.

Not gonna happen

The ncaa and its member institutions allowed this. They had literally decades to figure out some kind of payment plan for players and what did they do? fricking nothing but get slam dunked on by Supreme Court.

Every reactive bylaw will be challenged in court and will lose. I don’t blame a single player, I blame every school president and ncaa exec that sat around fingering themselves instead of looking ahead.

Yes. NIL in its purest form is basically endorsement money.

DJ Uiagalelei in a Dr Pepper fansville commercial

Myles Brennan getting a pickup truck in exchange for appearing in local Ford dealers commercials.

Name, image, likeness to be used commercially in exchange for something of value. What it's turned into is just unregulated free agency. And it's entirely the NCAA's fault. They didn't bother to set any guidelines. They just unleashed NIL and said "idk. Yall figure it out. Don't commit any recruiting violations."

There is just too high of a failure rate for high school players coming in for this to be anything but a disaster
