Thinking about Sports Unlimited and how we loved going. Going was like a treat and an event.

Yep. Go browse in Sports Unlimited and then go get a 99 cent Whopper at the Burger King right there.

I remember seeing my first Agassi racket hanging on their back wall. It took days of begging but my dad finally brought be in and got it for me.
Still have it today.

Steinberg's was my favorite store as a kid.
The Sports Unlimited was on Sherwood right? I used to get all of my baseball gear there.

If that exact store were to open at that exact location today, would there be more goods stolen or sold?

Sad what has happened to that area. It's a violent shithole now with heroin addicts roaming all over the place. Thanks Section 8.

Did not live here at a time but Sports Unlimited was a must stop when coming to visit the grand parents.

I grew up 50 miles outside of town but Baton Rouge was the closest ‘big city’. I remember being as excited as ever when my parents mentioned a trip to Baton Rouge including a stop at sports unlimited.

They were the only store in BR that carried diadora when I moved down here in 89 (I was a big diadora fan) - I also bought my Nike Air Pressure (Nike's version of the "Pump") there, that came with the little hand pump

Then it became Jumbo Sports and it was all downhill from there
They had the best Jansport backpack displays. It was like a 30’ tall wall of jansports

They built that big Section 8 apartment complex across the street and you already had Blvd de Province right down the road. That ended that area.
I'm surprised that Walgreens is still open. It's on borrowed time.

Grew up in New Orleans and the one in Kenner was also bad arse.
Was an event to go there.
We would always go to get a new book bag.

Used to get fussed at every time I went in there because I couldn't help but punch the speed bags

That little area had Sports Unlimited, Godfather’s Pizza, a good Chinese place (the one with a big oak tree), BK, McDonald’s and Show Biz. It was really nice then.
