My school always hosted middle class catholic school kids from Latin American countries, mostly Brazilians, Mexicans, and Colombians. We hosted a Brazilian girl when I was 10 and I took a Mexican girl to homecoming my sophomore year. It was a good experience.

We hosted a college aged Japanese girl when I was 14. Would recommend.

we hosted a French girl when I was about the same age. My entire family still stays in contact with her - it was a great experience and if any of us go to Paris she and her family happily host us.

What were the reasons?

Sorry missed this.

He had some basic obligations for his time abroad that included showing up to some meetings. He just wanted to party :)

My son and his family hosted two Chinese high school students for two years. They attended school with his oldest daughter and son. He said it was a very rewarding experience. I met both the young ladies and they were extremely polite and conversant.

We had two of them. First one sucked, found another German exchange student and they were both shitheads. Never said goodbye to him amd we never heard from him again.

Got a call to keep another for a week while his host family finished a vacation. He stayed a year. He was awesome and we’ve been to Germany several times to see him.

It is a bit of a luck of the draw situation.

I know a girl whose family hosted a female foreign exchange student years ago. The foreign exchange student ended up screwing the girl's boyfriend.

We have a big empty house and have thought about it. probably prefer a German, Swedish kid Austrian probably a boy as I don’t want drama nor do I need a young girl in my house. I like being married etc .

Yes, but I think my son was a spy during his four years in China.
