i've noticed that sometimes they put T. Jackson at DT when Alem is in the game. and i read not that long ago that it's to get more speed on the line during obvious passing downs

that spin move was sick and he has tremendous off the ball speed. I would love to see more stunts, and change ups...hopefully everything we saw in the game and mainly the second half translates what this defense really is the rest of the season and the years to come.

i'm not sold on the co-dc yet but hopefully the letting go of the leash showed them that this defense can ball.

He has also showed some pretty good strength, despite not being that big.

Alem has really made his mark this year.

I personally want more Drake Nevis and less Marlon Favorite.

Also we have yet to see Kentravis Aubrey and Sidell Corley.

Ive said that since the Tulane game last year. He penetrates/disrupts better than any DT we have.

Alem (Al Jones, that's the way I always remembered him) in an animal. Too bad we don't have 22 guys who play as hard as he does. The guy never stops. The Auburn sack after the penalty that he got speaks alot about the desire that he plays with.

wish he would hold contain a liitle better

+1. If he did, he would be an all SEC type of DE. Until then, I see LSU continuing to take the risk and use him heavily because we must rely on disrupting the timing of the opponents offense; that makes up the fact that we are still very young and inexperienced in the secondary. It's a risk because if he loses contain, the pressure on the secondary is so much more increased, as is the QB run threat. Saw promising results Sat. from using 4 DE in the 2nd half.

Completely agree.

Saw him on Bourbon Street after the Championship game. Nice guy, but as the look of one bad dog, literally.

He had a dog collar around his neck, no shirt on and was dancing in the middle of the street.

He's got this look in his eyes, like 'ol Mike Singletary. Tremendous future and with a little more work, he's gonna be a name you'll hear called a lot.

And about the name, from LSUSports.net...
Full name is Rahim Akil Alem ... Legally changed his name during the spring of 2006 ... His new name is part Swahili, part Arabic and has nothing to do with a religious conversion, but his African heritage ... Rahim means kind, compassionate and merciful; Akil means intelligent; and Alem means leader ... Given name was Alfred Marvin Jones, Jr.

Not that it matters, but I've got no problem with the name. However, I prefer to call him a bad, mutha f@#&er.

Using the 4 DE at once really was an awesome idea. We got to the quarterback at will Saturday and I finally and congradulate the Def Coor.'s for a good gameplan.

Anyone see him playing special teams? Saw it for the first time Sat. night. The dude was flying down on kick coverage. How'd you like to see him bearing down on you full speed?

Yea, he stuck out for some reason but I would either fair catch the kickoff or pull an X-Carter move and kneel at the 1.
