Mathurin, Daniels and Sochan fit the culture. Sharpe...nope

Three foreign dudes with good attitudes. Two of the three outstanding defenders. All high quality character.
Sharpe seems like a ball hog with minimal intelligence and questionable handlers.
Looks like a Klutch client in the making.
He's not at all what we need.
I think Sochan is the absolute perfect fit for this team and takes care of some of our defensive issues. Daniels would be great too although I feel we already have that guy in Herb.
Mathurin is my least favorite of the three but he can shoot.
I'll be happy with any of those three.
I'll melt for Sharpe or Griffin.
Dieng is a wildcard. Don't really want but prefer over the two above.
I forget Sharpe is Canadian so foreign also but he just seems like the typical American AAU me guy.

Here we go. We all know what is coming.

I don't understand melting over Griffin?
He's not my first choice, largely cause of the medical concerns, but assuming our team clears him, and other teams clear him, he's not the worst option depending on if guys like Daniels are off the board.

I definitely prefer him to Sharpe. His character seems fine.
I just don't want another oft-injured guy that we're hoping regains athleticism.
We don't need anymore injury concerns. Plus his d is god awful so I've heard.

Yeah, this is where I am with Griffin. Shooting is never a bad thing to have, he seems like a good character kid too. My concerns are largely medical and defense, but I trust this staff if that's who they want to go with.

I think people need to chill on the Sharpe hate on such shallow info we’re seeing and making assumptions about.
Look at Ant Edwards a few years ago during the draft process. We all thought he hated basketball and only cared about football but picked basketball because he knew it was easy money. People questioned his character, work ethic, and desire to be great. Now he’s the best player on a playoff team this season.
You can have other guys higher on your board, but to say you’ll melt if Sharpe gets picked by us is a bit much.

“I see myself being one of the greatest players to ever play the game of basketball,” Sharpe
I want nothing to do with this level of delusion.
You can say you like the confidence. That's not confidence. It's living in an alternate reality and if that's his perception of his talent, he's going to be a real pain in the arse to deal with.
Compare that with the humbleness and team-first attitudes of Daniels and Sochan.

Who cares about culture and character, can the kid ball?! Character and Culture don't win games talented players do.
How can you evaluate someone character from YouTube interviews? LOL
We don't have actual access to any of these guys stuff like the GM's do.

As the draft nears, I find myself wanting them to draft Sochan more and more. Give me his defense and hustle…the offense will come.

We have the talent to win games, we don't need to be sabotaged by some idiot kid who would come in thinking he's better than our best players

quote:Chet literally said the same thing a few weeks ago. He said he was going to be the best player in the nba by October lmao. You’d pass on Chet too? Mathurin has said similar things too. Teams like confidence and like hearing stuff like that even if it’s probably not going to happen. Whether you think it’s delusion or confidence. Teams seem to prefer that

FYI
quote:
It's a good bet that Minnesota native Chet Holmgren will be selected with a top three pick in the June 23 NBA Draft, at which point he believes he will almost immediately become the best player in the NBA.
Asked by Bleacher Report Hoops who he thinks is the best player in the NBA, Holmgren responded: "Myself in two months."
Zion also answered questions that he wants to be an all time great, so did AD.
It's a rather boilerplate response from guys at the top of the draft. Teams want to see you have the confidence to take on that sort of pressure and are worthy of one of their top picks.
Where Sharpe might get into trouble is if he's being considered by teams like us, that are less interested in a guy that wants to be the guy, and more a guy that can be one of the guys.

Then Chet and Mathurin are idiots too.
I bet Daniels and Sochan never said that.

They’d probably say very similar things. Tho yes they do seem much more team oriented or at least just grateful to be drafted and accept any team that picks them. I wouldn’t be surprised if their agencies tell them to say stuff like this during the draft process. So many of these guys say the same shite during interviews. Especially for common questions like their future outlook on themselves as players

No top 10 NBA draft prospect is ever going to come out and say something like “I’m just hoping to make the team man. Maybe be a 6th man and sign for the MLE in a few years”
That’s absurd lol

Your basing him being a idiot off of what quotes and YouTube interviews ??
How is one kid going to ruin a entire team with guys like CJ, JV and Temple. Also with Witherspoon, Brewer as coaches with Swin Cash that's a lot of leadership where you can take a gamble on a talent like Sharpe. Ya'll's obsession with the hate for this kid (BTW you haven't met) is ridiculous.

This. Also, Chet may have said that, but we've seen him in a situation where he wasn't the lead dog and he was still productive.

This is true, but there are guys who have said they just want to do whatever it takes to help the team succeed. Rather than acting as if whatever team they are drafted to is "their" team the moment they step foot in the facility.
If we were a shite team that had no talent, it would be worth it to take a chance on a player with a me first mentality, but that's not the situation that we're in.
