I love them!
Honestly, there the only good and interesting characters in this pitiful season
All the Shelby’s (including Tommy) suck this season. Arthur has always been my favorite, but his character was a miserable bore this season.
Alfie is my second favorite character and he was barely used (and completely misused) this season
Uncle Jack could’ve been a very strong character too, but he was boring AF- not sure if it was the actor, the writing, or both
I’m ready for the movie(or another season) to properly end this because there really was no ending to S6

Man, tough crowd ITT. I finished the series last night and was very pleased with the ending. Tommy was obviously never going to stop the rise of nazism, but it was cool his political ascension storyline led to that uprising - thought Mosely was a great adversary. Also really liked the “twist” at the end with the fascists orchestrating the seed that nearly succeeded in taking Tommy out.
Plus, how badass was the finale with Arthur’s street shootout, Tommy besting Michael, Alfie’s restoration to power (in Boston no less), and Tommy riding back to civilization with a new lease on life while his thought-to-be caravan grave burned without him in it (while that killer Bob Dylan “all the tired horses” cover reached a crescendo)? All the feels.
IMO the worst part of this season was the actress who played Michael’s wife. She was really good in Queen’s Gambit but she just seemed miscast in this show.

The Finn situation took me by surprise but I liked it. He was never really team Shelby.
Did I just miss signs of him turning on the Shelbys? I felt like that came out of left field. Granted, I don't really pay attention to Finn because he's one of the least used side characters.
I know it's only 6 episodes, but I thought it went super quick for the bastard to just join the family, make a decision on if he was all in, then be trusted with handling the potential betrayal by his uncle.

Not jaw dropping, but I enjoyed the season

Finished it yesterday. So so for me. I liked the twist at the end with the doctor.
Season seemed to drag and drag.
Why'd they blow up his estate?

He planned to donate it to the government to build houses for the needy.

He always covered for Billy. Billy is the one who screwed up the assassination of Mosely last season. Finn told him about it and he told the IRA people. It was Finn and Billy who got Polly killed.
Finn wasn't able to get the cop to take the bribe, had to get Arthur involved. It should have been Finn who handled that.
Finn was always watching out for Billy and not his family.

I enjoyed it. The only thing I was disappointed about was I read over Covid that they had cast someone for Hitler. I would have loved another season or two getting in to the rise of the Nazi party
Can someone answer for me, the very last scene when the mural was set fire, who was that setting it on fire? And why was Tommy running after him with a gun?

Thanks. I had forgotten about all that from season 5.

It was the worker for the doctor. The doctor sent him to set fire to the caravan because he assumed it was random gypsies on his land. Tommy just got there as he was finishing up.
I think it sets up for him to have people assume he is dead. He left all of the things that people would assume are on him if he was alive.

Oh ok. That’s right I thought it was on the hill where he was going to kill himself

I actually thought they made a mistake with filming. It looked like exactly where he had set up to kill himself. So, he either set up near the property of his doctor by chance or they didn't bother filming from a different location for that scene.

Another thing I just thought of that likely could be explained by me not remembering past seasons; if he doesn't have tuberculoma, what was causing his seizures? I know it has always been a theme that he would have flashbacks to the war and being in the tunnels, but I just don't remember if they resulted in him hallucinating and having seizures.

I had totally forgotten that Billy was the guy in the betting shop that overheard Finn mention the plan to assassinate Oswald in the 5th season.
I knew they had it out for Billy/the rat, but it seemed like the writers just assumed Finn being associated with Billy as a friend was enough for the audience to work off of in terms of disowning him.
I just thought Finn was being a dumbass kid/little brother, who didn't realize he was being got by a rat. Finn trying to pull that shite in the last episode was the first time I realized he was a shite wagon, and not just a naive little brother.

I think that was supposed to be severe PTSD, since it always revolved around his most painful memories (France, Polly, Grace, etc.)

I actually thought Finn not knowing the gypsie sayings during the planning meeting was part of they way to get Billy to buy into everything. I figured Finn would be the one to kill Billy in the house.

I guess I'll fully lean into not picking up on everything in the show. It's the constant of the show that Tommy is pretty much ready for everyone that is trying to frick him over. Season 5 was one of the only outliers. Do we know how Tommy knew Michael would have a bomb in a trunk waiting for him, that the IRA would be the ones to come after Arthur on that Sunday (I know the point of Arthur saying he would be there was to lure them out, but how did they know there was a mass conspiracy coming), or that Billy was a rat? Maybe they knew Billy was a rat from last season and just kept him around to use him to get info to the other side that they wanted. I still can't remember an indication of how Tommy knew there would be a bomb used on him in Miquelon.

Tommy made a point to tell everyone this season how he was already ahead of them in his scheming. I think we are to assume this is the same and he just has eyes/ears everywhere, and his younger, dumber family can't outsmart him.

I think a lot of his info was coming from Alfie and the East Boston Jews. They mentioned a rat in the Nelson gang in the first episode back, so I think they were implying Tommy had connections into the Americans' organization that they weren't aware of.
And the Nelson clan had all the IRA info since they were getting into bed with them via shipping guns
I agree that they left the interpretation too wide open, since it did appear like Tommy just had prescient knowledge from above to end the season.
