someone more intelligent than me can tell the rest of us how this will impact europe/the world, but european lawmakers want to ban the sale of new gas and diesel vehicles, starting in 2035

God help us if an AOC is elected president in the next decade or two and wants us to emulate Europe...

I hope they have found a way to mine for more unicorn farts by then because there is no way in hell that they are ready to go full electric that soon.

We have one right now. Everyone in the ear of the president is a bunch of AOCs. That is why the country is an absolute shite show right now.

Europe is already pretty squished together and you have to think this will cause even more movement towards the large population centers.
This is a good strategy for forcing everyone into tiny apartments in big cities.
Take away their ability to drive long distances by making it unaffordable for the middle class to purchase a car and gas. Then their only option will be to live closer to public transportation.
Our "elites" think we're mindless cattle and we should be herded like cattle.
Don't you just love the culture of NYC and Los Angeles downtown centers? That's what the dems want you to be forced to live with everyday.

California is going the same route. We aren't building any new nuclear power plants, shutting down coal plants, and reducing a our drilling for oil and natural gas.
This is the same path as Europe has taken....shut down nuclear plants and become reliant on Russian/Suadi oil for power.
Our current policies are actually worse than Europe's because we have the resources to be independent from the world energy markets and yet we cut our production

There is no fricking way you can lay the electrical infrastructure for this target date.
It's impossible. The cost alone would be astronomical let alone the logistics.

Fossil fuels are a finite resource. Bound to happen sooner or later.

So shock the economy and destroy lives now because hundreds of years in the future we won’t have oil?

No more gas/diesel for peasants. Only elites

Oh, ok. Then what is the plan for moving foodstuffs from the farms to the grocery stores in the cities ?
Will they have battery powered tractors to till and harvest with ?
Are there electric boats/ ships for the fishermen ?

thejudge,
You underestimate the American People.
The American people can pay for anything when the govt decides what the American people should be paying for.

Ah, there it is. The scarcity mindset of the climate change crowd.
By the way, according to your mindset, aren’t the minerals used to make EV batteries equally finite? What do we do when those run out? How do we clean up the toxic disposal areas for said batteries which, unlike gas engine parts, can’t be reused or melted down and recycled?
And, dude. Does someone pay you to comment multiple times on every PB thread?

I’m going to design some bolt on wings that fold up. Bolt them to your gas powered car and when the commies come knocking, just tell them it is a plane, not an auto.

But the thing is…they aren’t. We will never run out of fossil fuels.
One side wants into the energy game and has to destroy the other side to do it.

Fun fact we are on track to run out of Lithium by 2040, now maybe we wont but Lithium is far more scarce than Oil. Mining it is also a god awful process, and disposing of it nearly impossible
