SEVIER COUNTY, Tenn. (WVLT/Gray News) - A 70-year-old woman was killed after an attack by at least one family dog in Tennessee, according to police.
Upon arrival, they found a woman dead with “numerous” dog bites. She was identified as Debbie Boyd, according to police.
Two large Rottweiler dogs were found in the fenced-in yard of the home, secured by family members before the officers’ arrival, officials said.
“It was determined that the dogs were in the home with the victim at the time of the attack along with a small child, who was uninjured,” Seals stated.
The Animal Control Division captured the dogs and took them to an animal housing facility. Seals said the animals would remain at the facility until the investigation concludes.

Damn. You don't hear of this often from Rottweilers, but they definitely have the tools to kill someone.

I guess he was a very bad Boyd.

Maybe the old lady started dolin out old school discipline to the kid and the dogs weren't having it.

Had a Rottweiler who's dad was 195 lbs. Legit. Biggest badass I have EVER seen. But a complete sweetheart. She was 130 lbs. Sweet dog.

Her words before her ultimate demise:
"He's a good boy and wouldn't hurt anyone!"

Midnight tennis ball chasing would've prevented this

Underrated response.

It’s not my fault if you didn’t read the name involved and don’t get the joke.
And no wonder you’re “defending” the dog’s honor.

No Real upside to owning dogs like these as a family pet. Most dogs will have have a bad moment or two during their life. A poodle or golden retriever having a bad moment will maybe draw blood. A Rottweiler or Pit Bull having a bad moment will end your life.
Anybody with any sense of risk management or common sense would never own a pet like this and/or especially subject a child to the risk of having a pet like this live in their home.

They aren't naturally as aggressive as a pit, but they can be trained to be real assholes because of their strength, size, and overall look (they look mean). They are usually wonderful family dogs and maybe the most misunderstood breed there is. Assholes just get them and train them to be assholes.
It is VERY rare they attack their owner though because loyalty is their greatest attribute. I bet this owner was a real a-hole to this dog to make it do this.

I could see this.
They are crazy protective over kids in their families.

All dogs are loyal. Why risk having a Rott when you can get the same loyalty from a dog that can’t kill you or your kids?
Is it a status or pride thing?

When bred and raised properly, Rottweilers pose no risk to their owners. The problem is when any animal is bred and raised in an aggressive manner. What should be the "risk management" for this breed?

I had 1 when I was in college and a few years after. Best dog I ever had. Slept in the bed with me every night.

Raised a rottie he was 130#
My SIL ( u don’t want pics) & my nephew (18 mos)
Were over visiting SIL got drunk meanwhile nephew was laying on floor with Chavez crawling all over him playing.. SIL stood up to get the baby and Chavez lifted his head & growled once. She sat down & he laid his head back down.
He didn’t want her drunk arse messing with the baby! So…IMO
Something happened to make those dogs turn on her….

There really isn’t elevated risk if you dont train it to be an a-hole. That’s the misunderstanding, it’s not like a pit.
