How is that even possible?

SHe's a lying bitch. There's no way she didn't know. First year econ students are smarter than that.

She knew, as did the Fed. They were all sticking to a narrative to protect Biden's arse. Anyone with common sense knew that inflation wasn't transitory.

Janet Yellen is well educated and has been working in the Fed reserve/treasury dept. for nearly 20 years. There is no way whatsoever she was stupid enough not to realize artificially shutting down commerce for nearly 2 years while flippantly printing trillions of dollars would cause tremendous inflation. None!

Janet Yellen's core school of thought is based off New Keynesian economics. I dont know why anyone thought there would be a different outcome. At some point Biden couldnt use Ukraine as a crutch any longer.

Get that minimum wage in LA to $15/hr and we'll really see inflation.

Bull. Any high schooler in an introductory econ class would understand this. Just stop the lies.
I think she truly doesn’t understand.

You need the ability to think at least a tiny bit to understand how things work, or have at least a Wal-Mart checker’s experience in practical application.

I can’t think of a single member of the administration top to bottom with either

bullshite. I've seen it discussed on this very board for a year now.

True.

Yellen isn't dumb, she's evil. She knew what would happen but its easier to lie than admit what they truly want.

While what she is doing is intentional, she is indeed still a moron.

I miss having a Treasury Secretary whose name was in the credits of essentially every box office smash from 2008 to 2014.

Oh, frick you, Janet. Every Tom and hairy dick around who has two brain cells to rub together was screaming that shite from the rooftops. This is what happens, Janet, when feelings and emotions rule the day and dictate every single decision on every single policy your piece of shite Administration puts forth. frick off, Janet.

While true, if the government intentionally drives a car straight into your living room, the government owes you for the repairs. The fact is Fauci is the big one to blame here, and Trump not firing him and continuing to defend him is a dealbreaker for me voting for him in the primaries.

However, I like to think that if Trump was in charge the lockdowns would have ended sooner and we wouldn't be trying to force green energy by canceling O&G leases. Also, we wouldn't be adding tariffs to lumber while there was a lumber shortage. I could go on but the point is the second round of stimulus checks is only one of many things this admin has done that has made inflation worse than it could be.

Exactly. Trump would have stopped all this bullshite in March of last year, encourage people to get the vaccine, and say once you’re vaccinated or if you don’t feel like getting vaccinated to get back to normal and to work. Now Democratic governors like Newsom would try to interfere here, but it would by all accounts be better right now.

Progressives believe leadership over facts.

Its a culture of strong leadership and authoritarian rule.

It’s pretty easy to sit here on 6/1/22 after months of record inflation and say we all saw it coming… the reality is most of us knew it was a potential concern, but had no idea it would be like this. Granted, it’s not our job it know like Yellen.

Wrong, baw. Many of us saw this shite coming when the first round of blanket "stimulus checks" went out under the last team that was in charge. Giving money to every jackass with a pulse, whether they faced any actual, real hardship from the pandemic or not, was always a recipe for disaster when coupled with the cliff we perched ourselves on due directly to our leader's pandemic response. Then, we didn't only have three fricking rounds of blanken "stimulus checks" mailed out to pretty much everyone, regardless of need, we had the same damn thing done with states.

I asked multiple times of many people, "How much is that little bit of money going to actually cost you?".

Example, I know a guy who never missed a day of work due to the pandemic. He wasn't negatively impacted in any way due to the pandemic. He happily collected all three "stimulus checks". Oh, another bit of info regarding the same guy. He worked for the city. The city eventually gave him, and every other hourly worker, a $5,000.00 bonus that was funded by the "CARES" program....or some such shite. Yep....people who were negatively impacted in no way, people who actually got overtime during the fricking pandemic got themselves three "stimulus checks" and a five grand bonus!

Now, to your "None of us really knew" bullshite statement. All of those checks and bonuses were funded with money that was just frickimg printed and dumped into the damn economy! That was done while our country was already trillions......with a fricking T....in debt. That shite just doesn't happen without ramifications, especially when you HAVE TO factor all the other shite that went sideways due to the pandemic....which wasn't exactly a big fricking secret, either.
