I knocked out the whole season this weekend. Thought it was pretty well done.
Believe the author that wrote Lincoln Lawyer also wrote the Bosch books and I'm pretty sure they used Bosch's house from the show in this show. The patio/exterior at least.
Agree with everyone else.. Cisco is an awful actor and I always had to turn it up to hear Griggs.
Also kept thinking Trevor Elliott was Ethan Hawke

the character in the show kinda seemed like a dude who didn’t really have his shite together.
In the show he's recovering from a surfing accident and getting hooked on pain pills. In the book he's recovering from the events that take place in The Lincoln Lawyer movie, if I remember correctly the defendant from the LL was going to kill his ex and daughter and also committed the murder that his innocent client was convicted of. So, yeah his shite isn't together after that. I do think the surf accident doesn't really have the same punch as the events of the LL so his trauma doesn't really come off the same.

This, and that Cisco was David Grohl

Is the movie with Matthew MacConaughey good at least?

"Is the movie with Matthew MacConaughey good at least?"
I like the movie version with Matthew McConaughey a lot more than the Netflix series. Better vibe.
I have watched the Netflix version of 10 episodes 3.4 times (34 episodes). I probably have watched the movie 30 times or more.
The demeanor of the cast, except for wife number two, is that of a Peanuts animated cartoon or movie. It is as if they used Lucy from Peanuts as an example for most of character portrayals.
There is too much coverage of wife number one and the case that she is pursuing. I thought that I was watching her character from the movie Lost in Space.
Someone mentioned it in another post, but Haller's voice inflection changes on occasion. When he give the speech in the bar I thought he was shifting into an Irish brogue. That is probably me projecting a bit.
Watch the movie. The only unlikable characters are the defendant, his mother and family attorney. They deserve a prison sentence that includes a visit to a Bass-O-Matic. If you know what that is.

I thought the actor who played Cisco was the guy who played Clegg on Eastbound and Down at first.

Should I watch the movie before this series.

I'd watch the series first to go in with a blank slate, then the movie. You don't miss any continuity.
But I don't think it matters much either way.

The blonde and Cisco seem like the most unlikely couple ever.

Getting further into it and still liking but Cisco is indeed a terrible actor.
One thing I like is the juxtaposition of defense lawyers and DAs with Halley and McPherson. Both are seeking justice on both sides of the law.
You see Haller trying to keep people caught by fringe cases free from overprosecution while Maggie is trying to bring down legit human trafficking.
Great mix.

Sorry to get political, but I hate this woke shite how they turned the victim of Izzy’s robbery into the bad guy because it was costume jewelry, and excused her actions because she was an addict.

ehh... i get that a little bit. she stole and should pay for her crimes. i'm not dismissing that.
that being said, i was just saying that i feel like the show highlights the good and bad of both sides of law enforcement.

I had no idea this even existed until yesterday, and I am only on episode two. Being a massive Michael Connelly fan, I know how this story plays out. Anyone else read the books and feel like they completely miscast the role of Haller?
Not just because of the film adaptation, it just feels like an awkward interpretation of the character. Maybe its more on directing than acting? I don’t know, this doesn’t feel like Haller.

He grew on me by the end when he gets some swagger back. It's probably been 10-12 years since I read The Brass Verdict and I don't remember them playing the trauma up as much as they did in this season but I guess it feels right.

I am going to take your word for it. I am a few more episodes in, but to your point I do remember him having issues and losing some confidence due to his pill addiction and hiatus. Which ironically if you just ignore the stupid surfing subplot, you can watch the movie and the show and naturally fill in the gaps of what the author intended. There are just moments I just feel he is not arrogant enough for Haller.

I've read the books, albeit a while ago. In some ways, McConaughey was better, but in some ways I think this Haller is better. I do think it's more directing than acting. Book Haller seems a little more slick and sleazy, a little less always do the right thing, although show Haller has that. It just doesn't come through as well. Haller should be much like Bosch. Rough around the edges, but always willing to do whatever he needs to for the results to be correct, no matter how he gets there. Physically, show Haller is more accurate.

I think this is accurate. I always interpret Haller as a (as you described) slick guy who acts in a sleazy way to reach what he believes is justice in his world view. Now I will say, I’ve read these books multiple times the past five years (just discovered them). This book does have him unsure and uncertain about the big case, but never does he seem helpless which the show portrays way too much.
They make him out to be like lost and answerless. Even when Haller is lost and without answers, he always has a strong enough arrogance and self confidence to not show it. The show does not match that feeling for me, and that alone is massively disappointing.

You're mixing up Neve Campbell and Parkey Posey but you are spot on

Stuck at home with covid so I watched this earlier this week. I definitely would have stopped after the first two episodes if I wasn't sick at home. The acting is just so bad.
Trevor Elliot was a horrendous character. He originally plays hardball like he has a bunch of lawyers begging to take his place. He demands the trial to continue on schedule and provides ZERO help to Mickey.
"Ugh, like what are you doing here Mickey? Can't you see that I'm busy playing with my drone? I don't have time for this meeting. YOU HAVE TO WIN THIS CASE, BOTH OF OUR LIVES DEPEND ON THIS THIS IS MY LEGACY!!!!" So stupid.
And how does taking the stand in your murder trial help protect your legacy? You look worse by getting up there and getting roasted. That did nothing to protect his legacy. It's like he didn't realize that helping your lawyer might actually be the best way to help protect your legacy.
Not the worst series in the word, but there were some really bad characters and it was pretty predictable.
