Why are people so excited about graduating high school?

The fact that our society makes such a big deal about graduating high school says a lot about how we got where we are.
You’ve literally done the most basic thing in life that you absolutely need to do to not be homeless. You’re not some kind of genius that can’t be held back, you’re a complete moron with no skills.
And parents instigate it. I’m tired of these functional retards celebrating being able to read on a 5th grade level.

Didn't get invited to the after-party did you?

it's less about graduating high school and more about transitioning from child to adult

It used to no be this. High school used to challenger kids and a high school diploma meant something.
Now where nobody fails, you’re right. The only way you don’t graduate high school is if you quit.

If you think that's bad, you should see all these little brats on Christmas morning.

It is an accomplishment, but I agree, it warrants minimal celebration. You completed your first step, good job. On to the next step, whatever that may be.

Maybe because it's an important milestone that our retarded society took away from kids for the last two years because of the sniffles.

You sound like a fun person to be around

The real question is why do people get so excited for their MBA and JD graduations. Is this not your 3rd or 4th graduation ceremony?

I'm seeing ppl put caps and gowns on preschoolers for a graduation ceremony.
It's fukin weird man.

Its a rite of passage?
Seems to be the puzzle stumping the OT of late. Quite the mystery.

Who are you to decide?
Some kids come from homes where HS graduation isn't a given.

College was the same for me. I only invited my parents because I dont think they would have believed me if I told them I graduated. They probably would have thought I just quit.
It did take me a little while, I worked throughtout college and took a few semesters off for the military. By the time I graduated I was already working at my current job.

This may be "off subject" a tad - but when did we start "graduating" from each grade level? 5th grade graduation, 8th grade graduation, etc. We used to call that "passing" and being promoted to the next grade.
IMO graduation should be reserved for 12th grade, post high school, etc - not having a graduation ceremony for every damn grade level

I think your disdain is off. It comes across as "Get of my lawn bluster" or just you are a miserable person.
HS graduation is a celebration of a 12 year grind. It is the completion of being kids and the start of adulthood. After HS, kids will either go to college or hopefully start some kind of gainful employment. The chains are off and the world is now at their choosing. No reason not to celebrate, encourage our young ones for crossing this hurdle and acknowledge them as they move on to a life that is mostly up to their choosing.

High school graduation is like celebrating someone not falling over when they walk.
