Salt Strong Gimmick or Legit?

I have seen a few of there how-to videos on you tube. Some are good but they are always peddling their own products which seems kinda gimmicky. They have a members club you have to pay to join for “insider” information and instructional videos.
Anyone use their products or members with them? Thoughts?

if you dont know the first thing about fishing and had no one to show you when growing up then you can learn a lot, but most of it is just common sense.
and yes its just a way to sell the stuff they push so keep that in mind. if you learn how to fish you dont need live bait ever, thats just for kids and people who cant fish to be able to catch fish

FG Knot video with the "finger method" is GOAT. Makes it super simple to tie that knot.
Products - My MIL gifted me a sample box of their tackle with other brands mixed in. Their tackle is ok although I prefer other brands. They had some of their soft plastics mixed in there that I like. The box came with about 7 different shrimp imitation baits but I'm a ride or die DOA when it comes to shrimp.

Agree with this as well, they are a business but they have shed some light in a few spots of my fishing that I really like.

Like this...because of that vid this is how I time my leader to my braid mainline.
Gator Trout
And Bama Beach Bum just snagged a 28" spec on a slam shady. Not saying he couldn't have on something else...but the SS delivered that time.

if youre wanting to learn more on how to fish south Lousiana, look up LAFB on youtube. Same concept, but Devin Denman shows you the best ways to fish the marshes and bays in Louisiana. He has an online course, but his youtube vids could also be very helpful for novice anglers.

I got one of their free slam shady packs to try it out. Threw the whole pack away because they all melted to each other.
I don't keep my tackle bag outside unless I'm fishing, and when I do I keep it closed. All my matrix stuff was fine.
And that was in March, not how it is now. I would say if that's what their products are about, they're no good.

Nice enough guys that are helpful to people that don't have the experience.
They are selling a lifestyle image.
Every "pro" is pushing their product or sponsor.
I have more than enough plastics and lures to need to try any new version of something I already have. If you believe in the "magic bait" theory then you're not paying attention to any of their technique/approach information. It's basically the original in-fisherman system of fish whenever you can but concentrate on peak times and locations.
Gimmicks pay bills. The how-to is decent.

I've been a Salt Strong member for a few years. Considering they are 7 years old and have 30,000 paying members (including me), it's definitely not a scam.
From what I've seen, anglers join for a couple of different reasons.
Some join for the fishing spots and real-time trends (their coaches fish a new spot every single day and report back everything).
Some join for the tackle discounts (anywhere from 20%-30% off pretty much all tackle).
And some join because they love their online community and software that does a pretty decent job at predicting the best day, tide, and time of day to catch inshore fish.
All in all, it's a no-brainer if you're serious about inshore saltwater fishing. Not so helpful for freshwater or trolling offshore.
