Live in Yorba Linda. It’s a great city. And don’t worry, Orange County isn’t too bad from a politics standpoint.

Your salary might be doubled but your quality of life will be the same or less. Moving from Southlake to Anaheim would be major culture shock.
Will you enroll your kids in public school there? As a republican moving from the Southlake school system, have you considered that even “conservative” areas of CA accept some things in schools that would never happen in Southlake?
Where will you live and how much will it cost?
What impact will taxes have on your income and spending?
What impact will the change in culture have on your kids’ values?

Almost double pay will equate to a reduction in income to your family when you factor in cost of living.
The amount of time you spend with your family will also be reduced.
But the weather is nice.

From Southlake, almost certainly not.
If he's in Southlake, I'm guessing his household income is at least $200k. A $200k raise will increase his spending power, but not by a ton. I'd estimate his cost of living will probably increase by about 50% due to taxes, gas prices, and real estate as the main drivers.
Then I'd factor in the increased commute time if there is one. It could be a viable move, but I'd think long and hard about how much my life would change for not a life changing amount of money.
