No it is not.
“You can’t compare a guy with 1 1/2 years to the greats!!!!”
*List of greats includes some players with only two seasons*

Aaron Hill is still playing in the MLB
he hasn't been an MLB player in 5 years

Then he would tie Brandon Larsen who had 40 and was CWS MVP.

He’s a great, but not even close to Walker. And he’s not top 7-8 without winning a championship.
Baseball is the ultimate team game. I’m sure Crews would love to have the talent around him of the 90s. Oh and the 90s bats. The ball hit yesterday would have been over the road with those.

Aaron Hill was an excellent infielder and was a 1st Round pick (13th pick) in the MLB Draft.
Look up Hill versus crews stats for their sophomore years. It’s honestly not very close. Crews would have to drop significantly next year to not overtake him.

quote:Walker is in a class by himself. The bats they used in his day had bigger barrels but I don’t think you can lump him in with the guys in the mid-late 90’s. People forget how bat tech took off around the same time roids did. Walker’s last year was 94 and our CWS teams his last two years hit 85 and 87 HRs. Just 2-3 years later the 96/97 teams hit 131/188.
Oh and the 90s bats. The ball hit yesterday would have been over the road with those.

quote:Not far ahead at all. It is debateable however. I dont think Crews is the greatest LSU player, but if he finishes this year on this trajectory then has a similar year next?? Yes, he would be a top 3 at a minimum
Aaron Hill definitely belongs not only in the conversation but far ahead of Crews.

Do people not realize that Crews might end up being the highest drafted position player in LSU history next year?
I know MLB success isn’t tied to how great you are at LSU but to be that highly drafted you had to do something pretty special in college.

I'm sorry sir that position is already taken by Chris Reid

No, just no. Not close. Too many historical Tiger greats.

His '97 numbers will likely never be passed. That said, I bet Crews hits the ball harder than Larson.

Our team slugging was .607 in 97 which is wild.It gives me chills to this day to watch the old CWS highlights from when I was a 10 year old kid dreaming of playing for the Tigers

No likely about it. Those numbers will never be touched.

Todd Walker is the goat but Crews is making a strong case to be in the discussion and has another season to up that resume.

I didn’t list Todd Walker for a reason.
