If calling balls and strikes super accurately was possible, we'd already have seen it. It's not easy.

The ump vs madbum was 100% wrong but bitching about a strike zone that's a ball or two off the plate is crap. I'd love to see any of you guys do better, and this is a job that just about anyone can do, so go for it.

Last year's data showed that the ump was correct 94% of the time.

I do think there's this perception that the technology is there to call balls and strikes 100% accurately but that perception is not close to accurate at this time. Those boxes you see on t.v. are not 100% accurate. Talk to some of the folks in the minors where they have experimented with robo-umps and there are some stories.

You can YouTube a few examples of robo umps really screwing up balls and strikes very easily.

so average about 130 pitches per game x 162 x 32 teams = 40,000+ bad calls

98% of which are Angel "frick you, im de boss" Hernandez

Lot of downvotes but you’re right. Figuring out an umps zone and adjusting is part of the game. These dipshits won’t stop til they’ve completely ruined the sport. It’s hilarious how everyone expects officials to be perfect when players and coaches aren’t even close to it. These umps and other pro officials are so much better at their jobs than Joe Blow running to the internet to criticize them. You have people that have never stepped on a t ball field to call a game acting like they know better than someone who spent just as much or more time getting to the pro level as the players did. People that criticize sports officials nonstop are absolute retards.

I'd love to see the numbers on pitches that are within a ball's width of the zone. Most pitches are easy to call, most of us could realistically be at 85-90% with a little training and practice because of pitches that are obviously balls/strikes, even though we see them missed from time to time too.

I really want to know which umpires are most accurate calling the corners. And we know it's not Angel Hernandez.

If pitchers could get called strikes “a ball or two” outside the zone all the time, hitters would have no Chance.
