Ok. I found what she’s suing for.
So yes. ESPN is required by Connecticut law to allow their employees to exercise free speech “within reason”. So that’s where it’s going to get interesting. It will depend on if the jury or judge sees her comments as “within reason”.
Amazing how states are allowed to have laws this vague and left to interpretation .

Connecticut does have a unique law in protecting free speech including among private-sector employees within reason. 'Within reason' could end up being crucial here.

As much as some of you seem to hate Ryan Clark, you sure post about him a lot
I see posts like this on the SECr a lot. When did discussing someone mean that you liked them?

Clark is scum. He’s the flea on a stray dog’s nutsack. He is a human form of Covid.
I wouldn’t piss in on him if he were on fire. I’m white, so he probably wouldn’t want my urine anyway.

Sounds more like she got axed because it was causing an issue with the work. She was clearly still on air for a while after the comments. She didn't get suspended or whatever until other coworkers started not wanting to work with her. They supported her by not taking her off the segment. They supported Clark by not forcing him to do the segment. They were fair.

I thought this was about defending freedom of speech? Seems like that's only the case when the speech agrees with our own values

Or refusing to leave and inciting a riot at the Capitol because you lost fair and square. What a time to be alive.

The posters here also have a right to freedom of speech.
ESPN however does not have a right to retaliate against speech. That very literally is against the law. So, very different things and not a good comparison

He wasn’t even a Burrow fan until it was clear he was clearly the GOAT. The guy has issues.

quote:She was suspended for her comments on a podcast. It’s public knowledge. That’s against the law. Unless her comments were not “within reason”. I’m not seeing ESPN able to explain why some speech is ok, while hers was not. I have no political affiliation whatsoever, but this is almost as cut and dry as it gets. She doesn’t have to prove she was fired for speech. Just that she was retaliated against. And that’s essentially factual information and public knowledge.

Hi Ryan.
Why do you hate black women? Sage was just trying to “start the conversation”.

Keep on tilling the fields for your, Liberal masters. Its funny how if a black person calls out another by disagreeing and not abiding by the status quo, we are label sell outs, or Uncle Toms. Sage has the right to not agree and follow along because that what your liberal masters tell you we should do. You're the sellout because you cant think for yourself and attack and shun those of us that do.
Keep raising your kids to have role models like the Ryan Clarks, and Jamelle Hill's of the world, and Ill continue to have mine focus individuals like Sage Steele, Ben Carson, etc... and lets see who's kids turn out to be more successful!

Ahh the black marine who espouses the conservative mindset. Congrats, you fit right in with the rest of the frat boys over here.

Just because you don't agree with him doesn't make it not true.
She's angling for a Fox News job where she belongs.
