If Hurst starts at all at LT it won’t be for long. Penning is going to be a good LT. He might never be Armstead but not many any are. If we can have just a solid starter there is be happy. I’ll be interested in Peat and Ruiz’s play.

I wish they would sign a guy like jc tretter. Quinton spain is still out there.
I know they are going to give ruiz every chance to win the job but it would be nice to have another proven guard/center.
It all depends if they are going to keep mccoy at center, which they should.
I still can't believe they picked ruiz to play him at center when they already had a center.
I'd like the saints to bring in keelan cole at receiver.

We also have guys like Forest Lamp and Jerald Hawkins on the roster. Both have game experience and have been in the league awhile
Forrest Lamp is a guy I can see turning out like Hurst did for us last year. Not likely to beat out a starter, but if/when he goes in for injury you would not see a notable drop off. Hurst gives us that option for swing T, hell even G really, but I would like to see Lamp or somebody more natural to G step up as well
I also don't think Ram will move to LT. I have never heard any Saints coach or affiliate talk about that, only this board and a couple talking head so called experts
Pennning / Peat / McCoy / Ruiz / Ramzyck should be a legit starting 5 with Hurst at 6 and let Landon Young, Forrest Lamp, Throckmorton battle it out for the rest

For me it just depends on how Ruiz looks this year. If he takes the next step then I think we will be just fine. But he’s kind of the unknown. He hasn’t been what they expected up to now. He’s had some weird circumstances though so I think that could have had an impact.

Will Clapp no longer a Saint. Signed with the Chargers!

Penning is gonna block a DL straight into jameis’ knees just like he did with ridder

Whoever got our 1st round pick next year is going to have a high draft pick. Without much time to throw, the QB will struggle, and so will the team.
Saints are in a rebuild year in which you do not trade away picks. You need as many picks as you can get.
We were not one or two players away from the SB.

I didn't watch the Senior Bowl, but I think the poster is referring to this game where Penning did do this to whoever was his QB, which I think was Desmond Ridder.

After absolutely obliterating the Packers in Week 1, the OL played as poorly as I've ever seen them play in that Week 2 loss against Carolina. I remember thinking if the Saints prioritize OL once again in the 1st round of draft, not only would I not complain about it, but I'd celebrate the attempt to upgrade.
Terron Armstead missed 9 games and the record with his replacements was 4-5. Sure, Penning has some pass protection flaws, but they are fixable. His run blocking is as nasty good as it gets. Penning should be an upgrade over the replacements.
And just remember, as disappointing as the OL played at times, they never gave up 9 sacks in one game like a certain Super Bowl team did. Our OL was still solid enough to get the incompetent combo of Taysom/Siemian/Book one play away from the playoffs.

We need to move McCoy back to guard and slide Ruiz to C.

OP brings up valid concerns and put thought into his post. It seems like people on this board just spam the dislike button. It’s a shame because I feel like it discourages a lot of folks from providing different perspectives. I may not agree with the post but I “like” someone expressing their views in a cohesive well thought out manner.

Landon young played one game and broke his foot. He was just up and then down once.

Landon Young only started 1 game, but he played in games before that & had a good PFF score.
He was pretty bad in the game that he started and it tanked his score.

How does it get worse than 4 different QBs and Ruiz throckmorton and hurst playing the most snaps on offense? If you were ok with the OL last year then there is nothing to worry about
And everyone needs to realize how good Brees made OL look. It’ll never look like that again no matter the personnel
