Money on Saturdays...

Is it too late to find another option on Saturdays? And if so, what about giving Floyd a chance - his breaking ball has been looking good.

Let Money start a few midweekers and you’ll be begging for him to start Friday nights.

Money has put this team in a hole every time he pitches since SEC play started.

Money is not an SEC pitcher. He’s plugged in because we have nobody else to stick there for Saturday

Could just make Dutton/Taylor Saturday duo and move Money to Sunday.

I really don't know if I'd have confidence in anything else. I'd prefer Meatball to keep working with Money, and see if anything else emerges in the meantime.
You might see Cooper or Hasty get a start this weekend - Bama has a very LH heavy lineup.

Nope.... LSU has their Friday night guy. But let Money start a few midweekers and he'll be a fine reliever.

He pitched good enough against Arkansas to keep us in the game. 4 runs over 6.2 on the road in the SEC. That's good enough to win a lot of games.
He was pulled early this past weekend which was a little surprising to me. He wasn't really struggling when he was pulled, the defense let him down in the 2nd (if I'm remembering correctly). I thought they would try to get a little more out of him, but I can see with the ball already flying out why they didn't want to chance it.
The last couple of weeks they seem to be treating him like an opener rather than a starter. The emergence of Hasty as another long man has allowed for that. I think you keep running him out there that way (planning for 2 innings) because there is still a chance he can be especially on that day and go 5+ and then you've saved your bullpen a bit.

Floyd and Money have the same problem, their fastballs get hit hard. Floyd has looked better, but he's still not an SEC weekend starter in my opinion. I would rather Taylor or someone else who has been having success on the weekends to fill that role.

It’s not the same problem though. Floyd fastball gets hit because he doesn’t have a second pitch. I think money’s gets hit because for some reason I dunno it’s easy to pick up. That’s why location for Money is extremely important when he pitches.

Money is just hit or miss or both in the same start. He will look awful an inning or 2 then cruise for 3 or 4.
Maybe he could be a strong reliever.

Give me Hasty Saturday

I think its time for a change, and Jay didnt commit to him starting this saturday yesterday on Mik’d up. Wouldnt shock me to see either Hasty, Cooper, Floyd, or Taylor start this saturday.

I thought he was struggling. He had several 0-2 and 1-2 counts and lost the batter. One of the problems was he was throwing 2 strick pitches wildly with no chance of inducing a swing and miss.

Im sure he is a good kid, but Money has head problems just like last year. If he starts out well, he does fine until someone gets on base...thn he falls apart.
I think he and Hasty and some of the other young pitchers have a "high school" approach; I. E. they will give up walks to protect against hits.
I have noticed that J.J. Is not tolerant of pitchers who walk the first batter in an inning. He will yank them quickly. I hugely applaud that approach. I only wish our pitchers would catch on to that scheme.
Note how many of our close losses hinge on first batter walks.
Any thoughts?

He doesn't have an out pitch. Even with him throwing low to mid 90s, you can adjust to his offspeed stuff fairly easily. At times, he gets hit in pitchers' counts because he's too close to the zone. Other times, he tries to be too fine or overthrow and ends up nowhere close to the zone. They have to find a middle ground for him - close enough to induce a swing but miss a barrel.

Could be true, but maybe he’s just not a Friday SEC pitcher. Since he hurt himself during a game, he hasn’t been the same. It would be nice if you could afford to give him 10-12 days off then get him back in the mix.
His velo has been down a tic since he hurt himself and like someone else said his control is his biggest issue. He doesn’t lack control, but he does lack pinpoint control. When he misses, it’s usually not low and he doesn’t hit his spots as consistently as a typical Friday/Saturday starter. BUT that doesn’t mean he can’t be a weekend guy. I think he has the tools, he may just need to be rested and cleaned up a tad.
He’s a guy that could get it as we get into post season and really excel. Tools are there.

It is the same problem. The root of that problem may be different for each, but it's the same problem. I agree with you're reasoning though.
Personally, I would like to see Floyd slowly get some relief appearances on the weekends to see if his breaking ball has actually improved enough. As for Money, if he is on and can keep the ball down in the zone, he can be effective.

Change up Money and Dutton. Hilliard is definitely the Friday night guy and Dutton has been performing well.

They're going to use Floyd on the weekends in some capacity. He went down to the pen just before Reyz came into game 2 against Georgia.
