Holy smokes. I was checking out costs for 2023 and the place we normally stay and it's up 62.5% for next year. Aprox $6,400 this year to about $10,400 for a week next year in the summer. It's not a big place either but is on the water.

Checked out a few condos and those are about 5k where they used to run about 3k

If you're like me and enjoy the Redneck Rivera, how much would your stomping grounds be next year?

Louisianans will have to visit Grand Isle this year rather than Alabama or the FL Panhandle.

It seems like real estate along the entire Florida Panhandle has doubled the last 2-3 years.

I haven’t noticed that big of an increase as much as I’ve noticed that a lot more people booked early as hell this year. If you’re planning on going this summer I’d advise you to jump on it right now!

Get off the water and prices are more than reasonable.

Started with the Covid. People that normally went on cruises had to find somewhere different to spend their free money from the government.

Relative has a nice 3 bedroom condo in Ft. Walton on the beach. He has been getting huge unsolicited cash offers to buy it.

Place we're going to in June has a roughly 7% increase for the same week in 2023.

I'd find a different beach.

Nothing wrong with the lake or mountains either.

Fewer people flying and cruising because of the vaccine requirements. All those trashy people that normally would be on a Carnival cruise are invading 30A!

Give it time. Once the recession sets in they will be begging for renters.

That's why I take my family on a cruise instead. Everybody has something to do and can eat whenever and whatever they like.

Not Carnival, of course.

Looking on VRBO, the places I normally get are about the same price. For this year we have booked a small condo for a week in September in Navarre Florida for $800. It's on the sound side beach of the barrier island, but half the price of a gulf beach room.

It might be due to the new FEMA 2.0 flood insurance rates… thoughts?? Owners have to pass those on to renters.

The place we usually get in Seaside has gone from $3900 for the week in 2019 to over $8k this summer. Not on the water. Add to this the ridiculous rules the 30a beaches have added regarding banning canopies and forcing people to use the stupid price gouging chair companies, and we’ve decided to go elsewhere. May even skip the beach and rent a houseboat on a local lake. 30a is beautiful but just isn’t worth it at these prices. Last year was our tipping point.

30a has changed from a great quiet place to take multi-generational family groups to a wannabe French Riviera where the 200thousandaires in the Southeast go to be seen and pretend they’re millionaires for a week.
