Taxpayer paid education, then duck your service commitment ? Sounds about right for this day and age.

He's not ducking, just deferring. What's the issue?

You are showing your ignorance about the military. In today's military which is largely reservists. In this guys case having a deferred status if he makes the Saints roster he will serve his active duty during the off season and will do PR work for the Air Force through out the year. It is a win win for all involved, Saints, NFL and Air Force. In the case that conflict breaks out or he is needed he will be immediately put back on active duty. It will not hurt the Saints their are roster and salary exemptions in place for military members. Samething took place for David Robinson back in the 80's. Chad Hennings a DE from the Air Force played for the Cowboys back in the 90's under the same situation.
