Word on the street is that a purchase agreement for The Bluffs was finalized yesterday.
Group talks about 12-18 months to refurbish and reopen, near term opening of on-site practice complex.

No matter what....I seriously doubt they will get it back in the condition it was in during its heyday as one fo the Top 100 public courses in America.

But I love the lay out...if they could get it to a Santa Maria/Beaver Creek that would be awesome.

My fear is that what we will see is essetnially a course along the lines of a Briarwood - - whihc wasn't bad at times, but it wasn't something to write home about.

He’s pumping in a lot of money with no return. The plan is make 2 a par 5 again and fix around the creek.

If that’s the guy I was told was purchasing it.

From what I’m hearing, not the Bruffs.

If someone is trying to fix 2 back to a par 5 and fix the flooding issues, they absolutely are pumping in a lot of cash.

Need serious bulk heads all along 1,3, 2 green and a drainage system for when/if it floods. Need same for 18. I sincerely hope this plays out.

I want them to flip the 9s again so #1 is right behind the driving range. The current 9th is a better finishing hole anyway. So what if the signature par 3 is on the front 9?

10 is a hellacious starting hole though.

was worse when that magnolia tree was 160 yards out and you'd draw a drive too far left because you couldn't start it far enough right. but i'd like the switch personally

It would be better, more efficient to keep #2 as a par four as is, then walk the #3 tee box back 100 yards or so to make it a par 5. I’ve walked this ground hundreds of times. Would make a great par five along the creek, clear view to clubhouse on bluff at a greater distance, with far less long-term erosion risk than rehabbing #2 green.

Layout is infinitely better than brairwood.

They can try again, but it will fail again. It’s just to far away. It won’t get enough traffic to sustain it at a descent level. It’s a fantastic track, but it’s just too far out in the sticks. Beaver Creek can’t draw enough players and it’s a lot closer.

I don't hate that at all. It isn't walkable anyway, so it doesn't matter if 3 tee is 150 yards away from 2 green. Much easier to fix a tee box than it is to fix a green.

I agree. Doesn't seem like a course that is set up to make money unless they bought it for a song.

They need a tour of some sort to play there. I would think it would be a great LPGA layout.

If the conditions got to Webb’s level I would be very pleased. Though the layout deserves more, it use to be an incredible value for great course

They need to do what memorial park in Houston did get rid of every sand trap. Those the first thing to go during a flood
