Can anyone clarify the narrative that a player cannot transfer within the SEC after Feb1? I've seen this posted multiple times but the Steen situation seems to contradict the idea

I think the Feb 1 is in reference to when they enter the portal, not when they pick a destination. I don't know Steen's specifics though.

Yes a player in the SEC has to ENTER the portal before Feb. 1st to not sit a year. That is for anyone who is a not a graduate transfer. This doesn't apply to grad. transfers.

Grad transfers have no restrictions and are treated like they are transferring into a different conference.
Almost like they’re done with school and aren’t transferring from anywhere
