Yay or nay?

Pretty sure Twitter has already said that the Board of Directors doesn't make those type of policy decisions and that Twitter has no plans to reverse any decisions that it has made.
ETA: Here is what Twitter said:

ETA: Here is what Twitter said:
quote:
“Twitter is committed to impartiality in the development and enforcement of its policies and rules,” the company told the Daily News in an emailed statement. “Our policy decisions are not determined by the board or shareholders, and we have no plans to reverse any policy decisions. As always, our board plays an important advisory and feedback role across the entirety of our service. Our day-to-day operations and decisions are made by Twitter management and employees.”

He bought 9.2% of their shares. So no.

If he gets reinstated I already have the first tweet ready for him:

Yeah that's not how it works. If the board wants him in, Trumps in.

Yeah, well, Twitter knows how its decisions are made, so if they say that is how it works then that is how it works until they make a policy change.

Elon can easily convince them that having Trump on the platform is good for business. Twitter is losing conservative users on a daily basis to Gab and Truth Social. It’s not a hard decision from a business perspective.

Do you know what boards do? Obviously not.

Nope. You are wrong. The shareholders are the ultimate authority. If Elon Musk can muster enough votes he can decide any company issue he wants. That is true of every corporation, statements by some Twitter flunkie notwithstanding.
He would simply tell the CEO what to do, and if the CEO refused he would fire him and put his own guy in.

I do. But what powers they have are determined in part by the corporation's own by-laws. If Twitter says that it's not in the Board's power or policies to be involved in decisions like who is and is not to be banned from using the service, then those powers and policies will have to be changed before the Board can involve itself in those issues. Elon Musk being on Twitter's Board doesn't automatically change all of that.

I hope they don't. Trump was good for their Business.

Are you assuming this is specific "policy" or do you know?
You act like a choice to ban THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES from your platform is akin to choosing the brand of coffee in the break room.

With that 9.2 %, he now owns more stock in the company than any other shareholder including Jack Dorsey.
I wouldn't discount his influence.

I don't think you understand how a BoD operates.

According to Twitter, the Board only plays an advisory role, not a decision making role, in these type of matters. So it is reasonable to assume that these sort of decisions are not within the powers set forth for Twitter's Board.

I'm certainly not downplaying the issue or discounting it. It's not like I agreed with Twitter's choice to ban him. I'm just saying that it isn't as simple as Elon Musk just being able to tell Twitter to un-ban Trump.

I'm just telling you what Twitter said and how they indicated their board works. You guys can take it up with them if you think Twitter is wrong about how Twitter's board works.

That just sort of sounds like semantics to me.
OF COURSE their board is not typically getting involved in day to day business decisions of the company. NO board is.
However, you can be sure that any big issue from a group holding a large number of shares will be able to hold sway in any public company, regardless of what their "policy" may say.

Well, he's starting with less than 10% so he has a ways to go.

How is that? He may only need 3 or 4 more controlling shareholders to get whatever the hell he wants done. He can have them only drinking Dunkin donuts coffee in the break room if he wants. He was on the board over night.
